Move to Birmingham. Near as I can tell, no speed limit of any kind is enforced there.

Though I did once get a ticket in Birmingham for turning on a yellow light.

Take it to court. You don't need a lawyer.

Chances are very good that the fine will be dismissed.

This is something people in the legal field will say because it makes the system work quicker and more smoothly when it's being facilitated by people who know what they're doing.

But that's for their benefit, not yours. The clerk at the traffic court doesn't care about saving you money, so they'll just default to saying "you need a lawyer."

An attorney is an aid. Not a requirement.

You could plead not guilty to first-degree murder and not "need a lawyer."

That's hard to believe if you are in Louisiana. It's typically $10 for every mile over the speed limit. Which is why cops rarely write tickets for 2 miles over the speed limit.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump · 19m I have stated my concerns with Amazon long before the Election. The vast majority of traffic citations are targeted for revenue, excluding citations for traffic accidents, running traffic control lights/signs, school zones, etc. it's mostly BS.

I've seen the county sheriff and his baws line up on the down ramps along the interstate highway while the radar is being used on the overpasses, this is right up near the airport so they can nail the folks coming and going from the airport. Most officers will admit when pressed that they're not necessarily running their speed traps in known areas of high accidents, they're running them where there's the potential for high revenue.

I don’t believe you. An officer can’t ticket someone based off a radar reading while moving. Other methods but not radar.

1. you don't need a lawyer
2. whether it's true or not I once was told the reason you can go about 5 over is they are supposed to allow 2 mph error to the driver and 2 mph error to their gun

If he/she actually wrote 37 in a 35...you should very easily be able to go to court and say you were doing 35.

Is this what cities are doing now to earn more money. With all of the crime going on they have traffic stops in the business district. I was tempted to fight it but was told that I would need a lawyer. I guess ill pay the damn thing instead of paying a lawyer $1500

Yeah, I’m calling bullshite on this whole story.

In most states yes they can. They do it in Louisiana and Mississippi all of the time.

The radar has to take into account it’s own speed... not that hard to do.

I got a bs ticket about 10 years ago where a trooper zapped a car similar to mine, and due to his incompetence, I wound up with the ticket. The car he clocked actually passed me before getting pulled over. It was at night, light rain, in larger than normal traffic, the trooper was traveling the opposite direction on a divided highway, and he had to travel down the highway a half mile to turn around on a paved crossing. He had to use his blue lights in the left lane to get the car behind me to move back enough to get behind me.

I swear I got pulled over for the same thing on I20 just outside Columbia. It was foggy and he was sitting right on the median divider. I was in the right lane behind a mini van going 67(in a 60). This reddish sedan flew pass me, when he saw the state police's Tahoe he hit the brakes. The state police took off. Right when it looked like he was about to pass me he instantly pulled behind me and put on his lights. He asked me how fast I was going, I told the truth and said 67. He said I was going much faster than that. I told him it was the reddish sedan that was in the left lane that was speeding(my car was blue). So he asked for my license and registration then asked what I do for a living. I told him I was retired Navy and I worked in Quantico Marine Base. Eventually he admitted he may have missed that one(probably review his dash cam ). He gave me a warning for saying I was going 67.

Some dumbass just passed me as I was turning left into the RV park. I picture that person as you. You blatantly ignore posted speed limits put in place for all of our safety. You probably don't follow safe driving procedures.

Oh yes they can. Every speeding ticket I have ever had was from meeting a cop or patrolman coming the opposite direction.

You can’t do it with laser. But you can with radar.

Come to MS and give your theory a try.

Sure lolololol. Cops get shite pay but if they are off they usually get paid for each case they go to court for up to a 4 cases.( or whatever that agency pays its cops)

Here in Gwinnett County if you plead not guilty you will get a rescheduled court date and the officer will be there. OP didn’t get a ticket for going 2 miles over the speed limit. It was 20. The 0 must have gotten smeared
If that's the case, and the officer does indeed show up, then it's a toss-up. My experience is the judge tends to respect the fact you showed up instead of paying a fine. If you lose? You pay your ticket. That's the worst case in any event.

The alternative is pay the ticket, pay increased insurance premiums, and live live to the fullest, knowing your ticketing officer makes about 25k a year.
