Watching this was equal parts astounding and demoralizing. Listen to how this man articulately diagnoses the real problems Americans were dealing with at the time and then gives specific examples of what was being done to improve the country. He does this while coming across as a competent leader, doesn’t label half the citizens as terrorists, doesn’t blame the last guy 35 times…
Also, notice the congress (primarily men) don’t stand, clap and holler like trained seals every 7 seconds. Much more professional and dignified.
What in the bleeping hell has happened to this once great country?

Reagan is who instigated the Illegal Immigrants pouring over our border by granting Amnesty to almost 3 million low iq, unskilled, uneducated ‘immigrants’. They all felt entitled to come here after that and it hasn’t stopped since. One of history’s worst blunders. Just stupid to even entertain doing that.

Big mistake. He granted amnesty as part of a deal with the left where Reagan would receive tax breaks - no surprise, the left didn’t keep their word and Americans received illegals.

Reagan's mistake was trusting that Democrats would be as patriotic as he was, even if they disagreed in policy details.
And least anyone forget, Reagan was as vilified and hated by the Establishment every bit as they hate Trump now. But folks acted more like adults back then, and less like sky screaming lunatics posting on TikTok, fishing for clicks and likes.

Jesus you are one ignorant person. He took a country that had been decimated by Carter and Dem. policies and turned it around. The problem is that he had to reach across the isle and negotiate to get things done. The neoliberal policies were Dem. backed. Reagan had to give in on them to get some of his policies in place. The one that really screwed us was Clinton. NAFTA and GATT were monumental fuk ups.

You must not know what neoliberalism is. No one can argue with a straight face that Reagan was NOT the first president to double down on neoliberalism. Every president since has followed his lead.

Reagan's policies were a grab bag, but his confidence that carried over to the American people saved the nation.
The 70s were a long arse hangover and people no longer really cared.

Good heavens! What nonsense! Reagan's policies ignited an American half century that is the greatest national performance in world history. Not only did the lifestyle of the average American improve dramatically, but two thirds of the entire world has been pulled out of poverty by the explosion of American prosperity that ensued because of Reagan's policies.
I submit that our problems are due to the success of Reagan's policies. We got so rich, so fast, that we lost our minds. And you are exhibit one!

You do realize that this country was founded on neoliberalism right? It is the reason why the US became the leading super power of the world. Instead of blaming it for your short falls you should embrace it and try to prosper. Reagan was NOT the first to double down on neoliberalism.

And the brains too, those economic leaders back then knew the way to bring an economy out of a deep recession in the mid 70's
