I don’t think the guy is a member of the Raytheon board of directors as the OP seems to think. The article says he was an associate director. That is probably a mid level management position of some sort.
Associate Directors are generally one level above manager, and 1-2 levels below VP.

Could be 3 levels below VP.
AD - D - AVP - VP

That's not really true. I know 4 people with planes, 2 of them are rich (but not important) and have jets, the other two are upper middle class and have planes that cost less than a lot of center console boats. They grew up around planes the same way I grew up around boats and they just made owning one a priority.

Single engine plane crash, I am not surprised. Going to assume one of them was flying and not a professional pilot.
And possibly drunk

I mean, you can get a running single engie plane for 60k. But it was built 75 years ago, and even then storing it is outrageous. Oh you want a new single engine plane, you arn't middle class anymore.

Fair enough, but you also aren't necessarily rich and important. I think a new 172 is under $500k, and if you live on the coast you know you can hit that in the boating world very quickly.

Should have gone to the Chik-Fi-Lay Drive Thru.

Interesting to note as we head into potential April congressional hearings where we are supposed to expose crash retrieval programs housed within defense contractors. Raytheon being one of them…

Lumpkin is or was an Associate Director in the Intelligence and Space division. It is not an upper echelon rank at Raytheon. Intelligence and Space division is not what it sounds like. The company has so many divisions and departments.....not just missiles. I seriously doubt he was assassinated. That being said, I am saddened by the loss on this tragic accident. Our company will miss him.

Cirrus have them, but it’s going to cost you half a million for a 20 year old used one.

Carbon neutral, once the fires are out.

9?...we have hundreds of Associate Directors in this corporation. I work directly for one.

I'm not familiar with Associate Directors at Raytheon. What is their role?
Posted on 4/10/23 at 6:57 am to NC_Tigah
Assoc Directors are basically just that. They handle single entities (or area) of production, eng, design, etc...
Leadership roles
Group lead
Team lead
Cell Lead/Manager
Assoc Director
Director
Director of operations
Senior Director of operations
Vice Prez
Prez
CEO

But you’ll get in a car. Do you think there were any fatal car crashes in America this weekend? But they don’t show up on tigerdroppings.
What an idiotic post.
You just don't know when to shutup, do you?
