They’ve gotten soft. Both the Aussies and the Kiwis were formidable soldiers in WW1 and WW2. They fought hard but never lost their witty humor, even during battle. Plenty of good stories about them serving in the wars. Now, they couldn’t fight their way out of a paper bag.

I’ve seen that, but it didn’t seem the case with this woman. In fact, I could never ascertain her political views, just as she probably couldn’t tell mine.

In Reykjavik we stayed at The Edition. It was a last minute reservation because we had no plans to stay there. It was hugely expensive partially due to it being last minute. But the rooftop bar/restaurant was magnificent.
I would not spend more than a day in Reykjavik. I spent one day on Vestmannaeyjar Island. Two days would have been too much. The island is cool, but there are no good accommodations - like 1950s motels.
If you are traveling about, the Hotel Geysir is first rate and stopping at lunch at Fridheimar Tomato Farm is well worth it. Other than that, I’m almost halfway through the trip, so I don’t have much else.

Went in June. Loved Iceland.. Reykjavik is nice, but wildly expensive and LGBTQ utopia. $37 for 2 coffees and pastries
