Because tort reform only works to restrict the rights of the injured; it does ZERO to affect premiums.
This is what tort lawyers say.
He’s right, but it’s only part of the puzzle. We really need a 3 prong approach to address the issues. 1) tort reform such as limited damages on soft tissue injuries to get rid of “______ got me $500K!” 2) profit restrictions on insurance, by either instituting paybacks on profits or reinvestments to lower profits the next year. And 3) Infrastructure upgrades, financial literacy education, and addressing other things that insurance companies base rates on.
I’m not saying those are the answers or a silver bullet, but playing the blame game on one side or the other gets you nowhere. A comprehensive study, plan and execution is what is needed.

The only tort reform that would have any effect would be to limit the plaintif bar's ability to file full fledged lawsuits on every claim, no matter how frivolous or small. Once the case gets into the civil court system it's too late. We need pre suit review panels or a separate workers compensation style tribunal system with no juries.

This will probably be the funniest thing I read all day.

But Don Jr. endorsed Landry, so he was MAGA, and we must all fall automatically in line and elect the "MAGA" candidates.
But Republican voters also shite on Waguespack because he was a Jindal guy and headed LABI. So, it wasn't just Don Jr. that influenced the election. Landry played the good ol boy identity up (just like JBE did) and voters ate it up.

Oh, don’t get me wrong. I’m not blaming Trump Jr at all. Hell, it’s not his or his dad’s job to understand what really goes on down here.
Conservative leaning voters just didn’t want to see or hear the warning signs. It was evident on this board.

Don’t get me wrong he sucks too, but these idiots refuse to go against their trial lawyer buddies.

It’s the truth. Laugh all you want. Temple is pushing a package of bills that will lower insurance rates, and that’s why the billboard lawyers are so irate. The personal injury attorneys are spending a fortune to bombard the public with anti-insurance nonsense to kill these reforms.

Tim Temple is a classic southern Democrat with an R next to his name so he can win elections.
A southern Democrat from DeRidder?

Look into his background. He was endorsed by the democrat party in 2019.

How about weeding out the quack doctors from the equation as well? I’d love to know what % of these “injured claimants” go these schysters rather than legit medical doctors.

As long as insurers are allowed to get away with having a 200% higher profit margin in this State relative to its neighbors, nothing will fix the insurance crisis.
Are the injury attorneys not making money hand over fist? Millions in NIL, sponsoring college teams, sponsoring NFL teams, more billboards and commercials than you can shake a stick at…..hell I saw one today that’s putting on a mini-fair with a band this coming weekend.

Temple is working hard on tort reform that benefits the insurance companies, rather than Louisianans.
Why can’t we just fricking do what other states do that works? The evidence is there.
Answer: because Louisiana voters are stupid and refuse to inform themselves.

Ask yourself why so many of La. Insurance Commissioners have gone to jail, and you can see why the insurance commissioner needs railroading. And there has only been 7 before Teepl
I get it. Politicians are politicians. No argument regarding the guys you mentioned.
So occasionally we have a corrupt Insurance Commissioner.
How many elected officials fly on a private jet with the Commissioner to a deer, duck or turkey lease?
Yet, the Oligarchs who run our state are apparently free to wheel and deal with our elected officials?
I love Louisiana. Our Politics suck and have ruined this state.
It AIN"T just the Insurance Commissioners.
That's small potatoes compared to what is keeping us last in good and first in the worst.
