So it looks like they hammered out a deal to avoid the railroad strike. While I'm not happy that the Dems get a "win" I am happy that our economy won't be dragged down even more by the strike. What about you?

what is there to be happy about? unions wanted to be well overpaid and they got it because potato has gender pronouns as his admin staff and they have no idea what they are doing so they just said ok to any demand the unions had.

now the price to ship something by rail doubles overnight because of this deal

so tell me, is even more unnecessary inflation, simply because we have clueless idiots running things, something to be happy about?

Explain to me like a five year old how Biden can make promises of a big financial bonus and a 25% pay increase to every railroad employee when they do not work for him but rather they work for the railroad companies.
I am not certain that Warren Buffet is going to be too happy about the dent that potato head is trying to make in the bottom line of the Burlington Northern.

I'm happy as everyone should be.

I can't get my cattle to your dinner plate without trains.

Railroads are governed by the FRA, Federal Railroad Administration. The government pretty much controls them and can subsidize them. This president or any other could probably set their pay wherever said president desires.
It’s another part of the taxpayer paid for Federal scams.

Sigh of relief. Trains and trucks move America.

Passenger trains are a blast. If you've never made a trip on Amtrak do yourself a favor. Do it. Overnight trip is better. So relaxing.

Things are going to permanently get more expensive, so the only positive is the potential annoyance of stuff not being on the selves. Though we should be use to it, and stocked up at all times now. At least that's my approach.

I heard that the same govt team now back slapping themselves was in the middle of the talks back in June, and just walked away out of no where, telling them "yall got it." Now they came in to "save the day". Political election time set-up? Couldn't be...

I worked for them also, for 40 years. I'm pretty sure I know what you know. That said, although the railroads are under FRA oversight, they in no way can set the wages of any private employer. But you already know that, right?

This will continue to be a major part of the formula driving inflation over the roof!
A) Workers want/need more income to pays skyrocketing living expenses.
B) Companies have to increase the price of their goods/services to cover their expense increase.
C) We, the people, will have to pay higher prices for the finished product to offset the cost to produce, and/or deliver to the retail market!
It's simply like a dog chasing its tail.....and we're too stupid to see what all this out-of- control government spending is doing to us all!
GREAT IDEA:
1) Cut out all the give away govt. programs, so that people will be required to earn their way.
2) Help people to be able to learn a trade), and then work with employers/employees to get them started with their chosen profession.

You are promoting global warming by producing cattle then shipping on diesel-electric trains! Oh the horror!

I seriously doubt that a strike would have ever happened.

Because railroads are such a critical industry for the overall economy I believe that the unions need department of Labor permission to actually strike.

There is no way the DOL would have granted that permission . Especially this close to an election.

The govt has no business in it. The negotiations are between management and labor.

To be fair, if there's one thing Mayor Pete knows about, it's trains.
