During the World Cup. Bahaha. They said they would allow 3 hours prior to start and one hour after.

Now they are about to announce a complete ban. English fans might as well get their refunds now.

The Middle East sucks.

Not linking.. cause cnn.

Doha, Qatar
CNN

Qatar World Cup organizers are set to announce a ban on alcohol sales on Friday, a World Cup official told CNN.

The announcement is expected just two days before the World Cup kicks off.

“ In September, Qatar said it would permit ticketed fans to buy alcoholic beer at World Cup soccer matches starting three hours before kickoff and for one hour after the final whistle, but not during the match.

Budweiser, which is one of FIFA’s partners, tweeted “Well, this is awkward.”
The beer brand is owned by the world’s largest brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev.

Budweiser was to sell beer within the ticketed perimeter surrounding each of the eight stadiums before and after each game.”

No fricking way that's true. Budweiser is their sponsor. They've set up whole beer gardens to facilitate this. They already allow drinking in hotels and clubs in Qatar so it's not like they outlaw it to non-muslims anyways.

wow. I'm really shocked. That's a huge step back for Qatar and the rest of the ME. Making such a huge change at the last minute destroys trust.

It’s like they had no idea what they were signing up for. Only the largest sporting event in the world. Billions watching.

Wake up noob! What makes you time these people are going to drop their beliefs to accommodate your vices? That is extremely intolerance of you and you need to be cancelled.

I am afraid someone is going to get arrested while trying to bring booze into that shite hole.

I went there and they took my SI magazine cause it had an advertisement with a girl in a bikini on the back cover.

Probably the fact that they already do. Most of those countries have exceptions for non citizens in certain areas.

When I've been in Muslim middle east countries I've not bothered to drink because I've seen the faces they give people. Plus I'm Israeli-American, best not to push my luck.

I had figured they would just put like a $10 tax on each beer and fleece the westerners.

read carefully the announcement. "they will ban beer on Friday.." Friday is their holy day, much like Sunday in south texas where beer sales are not permitted on Sunday morning

Sounds like these folks need to take a long hard look in the mirror if they can’t have fun without alcohol.

Fairly confident they meant the announcement day…today. And not only to ban on Fridays.

FIFA deserves everything that happens for awarding a World Cup to Qatar anyways.

This. How many people don’t know or don’t take it seriously and end up having their lives ruined because they will rot in jail there.

Go the the Middle East - Get Middle East problems.

You'd have to be one dumb motherfricker to pay money to go to that shithole to watch soccer games and act surprised when you realize it's "not a fun" place. Zero sympathy.

When the muslims are more true to their beliefs than the Christians. It's even worse when you consider that they are exporting temperance and we in the west are exporting trannies and sodomy.

It is true, alcohol only permitted in the box seats... i.e. where the Qatari princes will be sitting.
