MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said the United States was wrong to think that it is "powerful enough" to get away with threatening other countries, a mistake, he said, that led to the downfall of the former Soviet Union.

quote:

"We hear threats from the Congress, from other sources. It is all done within the context of the United States' domestic political process," Putin was quoted as saying.

"The people who do this, they probably assume that the United States has such economic, military and political might that it can get away with that. It is no big deal, that is what they think."

quote:

"The problem with empires is that they think they are powerful enough to make some mistakes. We will buy these (people), bully them, make a deal with them, give necklaces to them, threaten them with battleships. And this will solve all the problems. But problems accumulate. A moment comes when they cannot be solved anymore."

Damn. That's strong. A 'bridge' of wisdom and vision that Joe Biden or Ka-bama could never imagine.

I cautiously offer my praise for said wisdom. 'All that glitters...'.

Well, we are certainly accumulating problems and not solving them. We aren’t even having real, honest discussions about them.

So, yeah, we’re probably fricked. Only question is when.

We're powerful enough to sanction his henchmen into the ground and make sure that Russia is nothing more than a small regional power. Probably what he's upset about.

There’s one reason for this and that is the frickers who are too childish and power lustful to handle an honest conversation about the problems.

What he's saying is, America thinks it's the leader of the free world when actually we are just a cheap whore selling itself to other nations, and he would squash us if he had to. That's what I got out of it

There is a lot of truth in that.

We need to stay out of all these conflicts around the world. The neocons are wrong.

We have a poor record—particularly in the Middle East and Asia—in building reliable allies. Our so called allies like us so long as we pay them or pay their enemies to stop fighting.

And removed them from the CEO who is a bff of Putin.

Germany is assho, they committed upping their ante to NATO, still not the mandatory 2%, then reneged when Trump left. They then turn around and sign a deal for this pipeline.

So they make us defend them from Russia, and line Russia's pockets as well.

NATO is such a waste of money and time, we should remove all troops and let them use the social workers they spent their money on to talk down the Russians.

IMHO, Putin can see the end of the USA just over the horizon. Putin is astute enough to observe objective facts and reach the logical conclusion that the USA is expiring in a few generations.

We can’t. If we do, than others, like Russia, will dominate these areas and effectively enslave them.

That's not exactly why the USSR fell, though
