63 years... math is hard.

Yeah, this was exposed in 2017 when Newsweek reported on the release FBI surveillance tapes....

Even if this particular stuff isn’t true, his heresies and affairs are well known, but boomer evangelicals still don’t seem to care. He was a heretic and an apostate and shouldn’t be regarded as a great Christian or a Christian at all.

It’s been well known that MLK was a POS in several aspects of his life, this isn’t really news

I think the left would actually not mind getting rid of King. They pretty much only ever invoke his name anymore, but they never quote him, because his quotes don't jive with their agenda these days

Did they get hookers to pee on his bed?

What about his cross dressing?
Illegal spying and cross dressing just makes him an even bigger icon and hero to the left.

Truth be told, I think the more hardline among them would prefer to use Malcolm X as their figurehead, due to his more divisive philosophy. The problem with that, however, is twofold:
1. The left is, first and foremost, about image over substance. Malcolm X conveys a negative image and is thus harder to portray in a good light, as opposed to Dr. King, who’s become lionized as an American Gandhi.
2. Malcolm X made some rather uncomfortable (for the left) comments about white liberals being the downfall of the black race. Hard pass.

Like most Americans I would have blindly believed the FBI a few years ago. But today, not a chance.

He’s the father of the American Deep State
It's common knowledge that MLK was a philanderer.

Black Liberation Theology is not Christianity. These "Reverends" like Sharpton and Jackson, are not espousing the tenants of Jesus Christ. They are espousing racism and masking it as a non-profit.
MLK was no different. People say, "If MLK was here, he would be shocked at what's happening today." No he wouldn't. He'd be doing what Sharpton and Jackson are doing.

Why should this be a concern if the EC rules are followed?? It's nothing more than a mathematical curiosity. You're blaming the water for finding the hole in the boat. We shouldn't expect to bear the responsibility of the non-voters. That's totally on them - not to be projected upon those that do vote.
I'm actually surprised that this board is so obsessed with King.
For all of his personal flaws, he still supported a mostly non-violent movement to get Civil Rights. The only reason we are still having this discussion is because the Right want to ANYTHING they can to tarnish his legacy because the CRA came to pass and the South ultimately capitulated.
Malcolm X was okay with using violence. I heard those speeches and read the memoirs. And while I agree with him heavily on black independence, it depends on if you think the end justifies the means.
Plus, Malcolm was a REAL Muslim. I'm shocked you didnt bring that up. The sad part is that nobody brings up the real issue: had Blacks not been treated like dogs for the post WW2 year time period, their wouldn't have been a Civil Rights Act anyway.

Forgive me.
Progfilth media would easily couple pence with being anti lgbtqrstuv.
They would put some of his comments on snopes or media matters and call him anti.
But mlk said these throngs and would get off Scott free for Saying the same things about conversion therapy.

A lot of what has been reported has been out there for many years. You have to admire him for being a proponnent of change through peaceful means, but he was definently no saint by any means.

A. I don’t trust undocumented (no pics or audio) notes of clearly questionable motivation.
B. What is an “unnatural sex act”?

I see where your coming from.
Here's the deal with American diaspora:
Blacks, Muslims, Asians and Latinos are actually conservative at the heart.
All three adapted to societal problems different and their are many historical differences amongst those obstacles that caused them to culminate into what we have today.
But the message that has been created by the GOP isnt pure conservatism. It is nativism mixed with a theological worldview. So while the groups may share certain religion and moral values, many of their ideals conflict with white nativist goals.

The people who invoke MLK’s name loudest in order to virtue signal don’t actually buy into the whole “content of character vs. color of skin” thing. I’ve said it for years, it’s just so much bullshite to them. At best, it’s an abstract notion that they’ll pay lip service to, but don’t actually believe in. They show it thru their actions.
But hey, muh Dr. King.
