ATLANTA — A Publix store at a popular Atlanta shopping and dining district will be closing this month. Atlantic Station confirmed in a statement that the Publix store’s last day will be on Dec. 27. “The retail industry is cyclical, and Atlantic Station continues to adapt in ways that strengthen our position as a leading mixed-use destination,” the statement read. “We have an opportunity to reimagine the space and consider concepts that will add new options and value to the surrounding community.”

Anytime you hear that mantra is just to ignore reality.

Stop shoplifting bumkeisha!

Atlantic Station has been taken over. Had to go there last year and I felt like I needed my gun.

I hope you had it on you at the time. If not, make a point to remember that feeling and never have to relive it. It's much better to have it with you every day and never need it than to need it just once and not have it.

My rule: There is no good reason to leave home unarmed.

I refuse to do business with companies that are not truthful to us. They know why they closed but are going to lie about it.

My car got broken into in Atlanta and when I tracked my stolen iPad it was at Atlantic Station...

ETA: Police refused investigate at all... 2 weeks later it ended up in Hong Kong, then Shenzhen where it eventually lost signal

I wonder when anchor store IKEA will close up and move out to greener, less fatigued, pastures?

Atlantic Station is on its 3rd or 4th cycle of going from hellhole to mildly better to hellhole again. It was taken over 15 years ago, TBH. It's probably been 7 years since Fox Sports or whatever it was closed down explicitly because they couldn't get their staff tipped by the patrons.

Yep ... was just there a couple two or three months ago for the season opener against Va Tech ... and it was shocking how far down that area has fallen.

It wasn't that long ago that it was a showplace district.

Atlanta is fast becoming a lost cause.

It was a great city in the 60s and 70s and well into the 80s. Big business loved downtown Atlanta ... it was The Pride of the South.

Now it's a shithole.

MARTA. That Lenox station opened in the early 80s and the impact was immediate.
