what exactly is the root of the melt?

that a so called "bible-thumper" will soon be taking the Alabama senate seat

or

that the libs are no longer adequate at taking out their mark on a national level by the BS that use to work for them?

or is there another root cause behind the melt(insanity)?

not the underlying cause but certainly adding to their frustrations

they're just desperate for an election win in a swing or red state...desperate.

I'm goin' with that one.
The root cause is their mental illness.

This combined with an impotent frustration on realizing that a majority of the country or at least in many regions doesn't agree with them.

It may have to do with a deeply held belief that the federal government should be run by competent rational people who will uphold the principals of our constitution and represent everyone.

It's this. Their whole, "on the right side of history" schtick is finally failing. Their alliance with radical Islam is honestly their undoing. Until then, their moral high ground argument did well. But if you're going to hate Christianity and then defend Islam because of Arabs, then you've entered cognitive dissonance.

You are correct in understanding that the psychology informs the Melt and not the other way around . I feel like I could actually write a book about this topic- but suffice to say that Progressives have organized around certain mediums and a certain phraseology. They are quite literally delusional in that they prefer the comfort of a provably false narrative over objective Truth . They are gripped in Group Think and they now have the perfect digital means to spread Mass hysteria and engage in false accusations and revenge fantasies on line , on television and in print .

Because it’s a moralistic Fundamentalist pseudo- religion anybody who interrupts the Orthodoxy is immediately shunned and punished and the narrative is pushed forward at any cost. They can claim Trump has dementia at 8, be proven wrong by 9, and It doesn’t bother them in the least. Because the GOAL is not to arrive at the Truth, but rather to feed the delusion and keep it energized. It’s essentially the largest observable mass - delusion in modern American times . This is what the witch burners look like in 2017. Instead of watching an individual lose his grip on reality, we are watching a mass reality- break . It’s utterly incredible.

cognitive dissonance

Let's reveal the mother of all cognitive dissonances:

Roy Moore seeks a Senate seat as a confirmed Bible beater, yet his own (alleged) behavior patterns brand him a possibly the most immoral man to seek national office since Donald Trump (who has wisely never proclaimed a definitive religious stance).

A decided lack of credibility from media outlets pushing the story helped most of the state realize it was bulldhit early.

The greater theme behind the melt that some see is a kind of leftist resentment over attaching oneself to the losing side. Stephen Hicks, a philosophy professor, lays it out in this long (8 min) video. It’s worth a watch:

And yet those are the same people who would support Corrine Brown or Al Green.

Why does your side always selectively leave out JFK, Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton when making this comparison?

I love how leftists constantly swing back and forth on the constitution being outdated and in need of change and embracing it. It's cute to watch
