Of course the principal is misquoted or exaggerated. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be good fodder for Twitter and message boards…

So I now have to worry that my words will cause fear in someone else's life, but shouldn't fear a boy using the bathroom with my daughter. Liberal minds are effed up

I tend to agree with SFP on this one.

That principal’s letter speaks to situations that go beyond simply “speaking positively about ICE”.

Chances are very slim any of these illegal immigrant kids brought themselves over here.

School-aged kids in general can be pretty brutal and unforgiving.

I can see a kid being subjected to taunts from other about getting his/her arsse locked up or taunts about being sent back where they came from …not necessarily being the type of environment a school would want to promote or sanction.

Again, I doubt most of these kids here illegally made their own decision to be here that way.

You can be against illegal immigration (as I am) and still not be in favor of a free for all atmosphere of intimidation and taunts towards those who probably didn’t have alot of say in their own circumstances.

Making light can also be construed to mean "supportive", right? Why would a principal make a directive in any way shape or form that restricts what students can say? Genuinely. If the script were flipped and he said "anyone that says anything that can be interpreted as negative toward Trump you will be suspended" YOU would absolutely riot.

Unless the rhetoric is harmful or in that nature that is directly against the Constitution

That's not what the principals letter says, FWIW. It specifically references to ICE to bully students ("cause fear of humiliation" is the exact text). Nowhere in the letter does it claim to punish "speaking positively about ICE". That's pure dishonesty (or an inability to read).

I have a kid in middle school. The things she tells me that are said openly are pretty brazen. No doubt kids are invoking the wrath of ICE on anyone that looks even remotely ethnic. Which is not cool and I certainly would be pissed if it were my kid being harassed.

They don't even have to be illegals. Kids don't understand nuance and learn racism very easily.

Or legal immigrants/citizens who just have brown skin and Latino descent

The letter states about fear or humiliation. Just mentioning ICE could trigger these “feelings” in a student. It’s all about how they “feel” regardless of the context. Why don’t you see that?

Suspending students that have an opinion you disagree with creates a "safe and inclusive environment"?

Seems like the opposite.

You call the person calling out dishonesty the dick? Interesting.

Well, you are and you know it, lol. The principal could have sent out a letter addressing bullying in general, since it would be more of equitable outcome for all, no?

Here? I'd be a lot of money on good old fashioned racism.

Something has to be done about the state of Minnesota. This is a crisis.

This applies to all bullying, and I bet you bullying violates the school rules already. This letter just references a specific type, likely based in racism.

But it's okay for them to restrict it as long as it curtails to your ideology...?

That authoritarian garbage from the EU, then UK, Canada is taking root here. It needs to be pushed back against and thoroughly buried.

Why is ICE getting special treatment?

Has this principle made similar stances on all law enforcement?

Sounds very subjective. For instance, would singing "Ice Ice Baby" while walking down the halls be considered bullying?
