Potentially toxic?

So they don’t know.

Nice.

I hate paper straws though.

There’s an entire industry built on imaginary problems. Constantly reinventing the wheel will have us regressing to the dark ages.

If it is science you better believe it, until it changes again.

When they handed me an awful paper straw wrapped in plastic, instead of an awesome plastic straw wrapped in paper I knew this was all bullshite.

Plastic straws make up about 1% of plastic trash.

PFAS chemicals are quite pervasive...they are freaking everywhere (including our drinking water) and are super hard to remove.

What good is a paper straw when the to-go cups are plastic anyways?

I commonly see the stat quoted as either "less than" or "up to", so read it either way if you like.

I don't want to seem dismissive of the concern over plastic. Certainly it is a legit issue (compared to the phony carbon scare/power grab). Victor Vescovo saw a plastic bag at Challenger Deep.

But paper straws are no substitute for plastic and just as, if not more, toxic for the environment.

We need better solutions by geniuses, not silly virtue signals by idiots

I have always hated straws since I was a kid. When I go to restaurants or drive thru they look at me like I'm an alien when I tell them I don't want a straw.

Who, above toddler age drinks thru a stray? But by all means, if you want a straw you should have one

Amazing how almost every "solution" that environmental activists come up with is either proven not to work or is MORE harmful than the previous "problem"...

Toxic for the environment but screw the humans who drink the toxicity. Typical. They couldn’t care any less about sh$t being toxic for humans if they tried…seed oils, TBHQ, yellow dye, red dye, BHT, could go on and on.
