This is going to be a new and improved refinery, not the ones you are used to being around that are all 50+ years old. And I assure you this Indian company has it completely designed around the ability to staff it with as many benchods as possible.

Wow. Finally. Not building new refineries in the last 50 years is even more damning than not building nuclear reactors.

The last one was Marathon Oil in Garyville, La. in 1976.

Good. Maybe now that Trump dropped the EPA greenhouse gas & carbon rules, it won’t be prohibitive for new refineries and industrial expansion.

Shell was a complete idiot shutting it down instead of just idling it with a skeleton crew till demand got back from Covid.

Oh heck yes. We need several. The demand for refined oil products is several times higher than 50 years ago.

We definitely need to replace all the lost capacity from California refinery shut downs.

And will be staffed by H1B's most likely, and not Americans.

No worries - refining is in their blood. Ask the old guys from Union Carbide.

Why is it so hard for people to comprehend that it's a team effort? Every middle easy country is now involved and part of our team. Why is this so fricking difficult for you people to see this?

It's amazing what's happening in the middle east

They had just recently completed a process / pipeline integration project with the Norco facility, then they shut Convent down due to Shell only wanting to retain facilities that were combined refining / chemical complexes. Shell tried to sell it. They talked about converting it to a green / bio facility but backed off. Its being demolished now.

Yea, I already knew the answer.

I hope the H1B shite doesn’t rear its ugly head, but I think that’s unavoidable unless there is some serious negotiation there.
