I never understood the baby/sky blue.

eta: Not sure I'm sold on the new look. Would like to see more color scheme options before I decide.

JFK asked Jackie to redesign because he felt it looked to much like royalty...the blues represent early history of the country and then the future of the country....or so i've been told.

It doesn't match the flag.

It's like saying I prefer red and black, but just because those are my favorite colors doesn't mean it belongs on AFO.

Same...it also seems petty to change it.

I prefer the new paint scheme. The shades of baby blue are insignificant and dated. The iconic plane of the United States should obviously be red white and blue.

Wanting the plane to reflect the colors of our national flag is petty?

Do people not understand that red, white, and blue are BY FAR the most common flag color combination on the planet? There is absolutely nothing unique about red, white, and blue as a color scheme.

You can like it better than the current colors, thats just personal preference. But the US does not have a monopoly on RWB so its silly to insist that we must identify Air Force One that way. Especially when the plane has never been RWB. IIRC it was mostly chrome/silver colored fuselage before JFK, to the extent that it wasn’t just a normal military plane that POTUS travelled on.

Not necessarily petty, but pointless. The current look has become the identity of AF1. Changing it without good reason to a very, very common color scheme that is used by dozens of airlines and shared with about 100 other countries just seems silly.

Id venture to say that the USA is the more well known of the countries in the world that use the color scheme. Not to mention AFO is a bit more of a outward symbol of our country than is any other country's presidential aircraft.

That is exactly my point. AF1, with its current scheme, IS the outward symbol of our country and is already the most iconic aircraft on earth.

Sure, only in that the USA is probably the most well known/recognized nation on earth, regardless of flag color. But we are talking about the UK, France, Russia, the Netherlands, etc, the US isn’t exactly “more well known” than any of those places when it comes to using national colors on things.

I guess change can be pointless or it can be positive. My opinion on this is the latter, but of course to each his own. Differing opinion respected.

Seems petty to be petty about a paint job that is required anyway. Might as well paint it to a design of your liking.
