Premature baby in Louisiana counted as COVID death

This happened last week but I just now saw where it was counted in the COVID totals
Do you agree with the decision?

Officials in Louisiana say COVID-19 likely caused a woman to go into premature labor and as a result, her baby did not survive. East Baton Rouge Coroner Dr. Beau Clark announced in a press briefing on Monday that the baby's death was counted as a coronavirus-related death.
Clark said the mother went to the hospital after experiencing coronavirus symptoms. "She ultimately ended up having to be put on the ventilator because of the profound nature of the shortness of breath, and has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus," Clark said during the briefing.
The coroner said the woman unfortunately ended up going into labor prematurely and that "the baby, because of the extreme prematurity, did not survive." The child was just under 22 weeks gestation, Clark said. He did not have a status update on the mother.
Clark, who is president of the Louisiana State Coroner Association, said the baby did not test positive for COVID-19, but after speaking to other health professionals, a decision was made to consider it a COVID-19-related death.
Do you agree with the decision?

Gotta get those number up. Those are rookie numbers.

Before you know it, they will be counting abortions as Kung Flu deaths

What about the abortions for the people driving in from Tejas?

Would this baby otherwise been born premature?

But rest assured all those abortions will be doing their part to elect Biden in November.

But I thought unborn baby's weren't people? it is like counting a dog in the death count or something?

"Had [the mother] not been COVID-19 positive, had not required ventilator support, had not had the shortness of breath, the hypoxia [oxygen deprivation] that is associated with the virus, likely she would not have gone into preterm labor and there would have been a different outcome," Clark said. He added that there have been cases similar to this in the U.S., according to other health experts he has spoken to.
But, remember, it's all a conspiracy because . . . of something or another.

I'd like to see if they list the mother's condition as cause of death when it is a non-convid related incident. If that is standard then they did it correctly, if not...

Yes, I would count it. She was having trouble breathing and that caused her premature labor. It was related IMO.

It wasn’t mentioned in the article above but I think I also read that the baby only survived an hour after delivery.
Why shouldn’t this be counted?

If the answer is yes, then listing this death as a Covid death makes sense
However if the cause of death is usually listed as asphyxia or sepsis or another possibility, then it would make little sense to name the cause of Death as Covid to me in this instance
I cant really reconcile naming the condition of the mother as cause of death if they do not do so in all circumstances

Pretty typical with a baby born that early

No one knows for sure now do they?

Because that is the standard in medicine

Covid has been making people go into labor.
Now, if you think abortion is killing, this should count to the Covid death tally.

Article on the front page of this morning's Advocate states that the baby was negative for the virus.
So, I suppose that's a positive of no "downstream" transmission from mother to baby, or whatever it's called.

I know some of you guys will be disappointed, but the baby was not counted as a COVID-19 victim. The test on the baby came back negative per the coroners office.
