People on here bitch and moan about DEI and people getting jobs they 'don't deserve'.....then when athletic organizations recruit the best players available, they lose their hillbilly minds.
They want Dutch people to play for the Dutch National team. That’s the difference, and it’s understandable.

Not the same thing.

The captain in the back (the tall guy) who is not the goalie is named Virgil van Dijk. He is at least half Dutch probably.
Pretty much all of these guys in the picture were born and raised in the Netherlands to either one Dutch parent or to immigrants from Dutch Caribbean colonies (Aruba, Curacao, Suriname, etc.).
VVD's mother was Dutch and his father was of Surinamese heritage (mix of black, white, and Chinese, apparently).
Memphis Depay's mother was Dutch. Dad was Ghanian. Similarly, Gakpo's mother was Dutch and dad from Togo.
Denzel Dumfries parents were from Aruba and Suriname. Gravenberch's parents are also Surinamese.
The Timber brothers' parents were from Curacao.
Kluivert is full on Dutch (dad was a famous Netherlands player whose parents were from Suriname).
Reijnders' dad was Dutch who also played for the national team (and married an woman of Indonesian descent).
Malen's parents were Surinamese.
France or Belgium are probably better examples of what OP was probably going after. It's actually fairly impressive that the Dutch Caribbean - which combined has a population of like a million people - has had a hand in producing so many world class players over the last generation.
Similar thing in baseball, actually (where the "Dutch" team is primarily guys like Jurickson Profar, Kenley Jansen, Andruw Jones, Xander Bogaerts, etc.).

France is the best example of a soccer team reflecting its country's perverted demographics.
More like reflecting the country’s desire to win by exploiting its citizenship and nationalization laws.

No different than America where black populations only represent 13% of the overall population but comprise a large majority of sports athletes representation.

Look at all those Vikings

They make up 6% of the US population and what percentage of our baseball team? LOL
The 2024 Bronze Medalists have a few white boys.

Well at least now the reason for allowing unfettered illegal immigration makes sense.
To dominate in sports.
The US Olympic men’s basketball team better look out.

Dude on the bottom left was born in NYC when his Nigerian mom went into labor a few weeks earlier than planned. Both parents are Nigerian citizens
They then moved to London when he was literally weeks old.
The "rules" for country representation in FIFA/international soccer are pretty lax, guys bounce around all the time when the country they "should" represent doesn't have a spot for them
He could have played for US, England, or Nigeria

Funny enough, now that I'm thinking about it #2 in that picture, Seginio Dest, is actually Dutch, he was born in the Netherlands and lived his entire life there until going to Spain to play soccer
His mom is Dutch, his Dad is an American who himself was born somewhere in Africa, immigrated and became a naturalized citizen.

to be fair, some people on here were openly hoping the Team USA basketball team would lose

And everyone does it so I'm not sure what the issue is here.
Look at Japan and Naomi Osaka, for example. They are pretty strict regarding dual citizenship but conveniently made a special exemption in her case.

I fail to understand why this is so surprising. Do people have no knowledge of history?
How is this any different than what OP posted:

There is certainly room for nuanced discussions around immigration and demographics, but crying about all the brown people on the Dutch soccer team is basically just stupid. Yes there are Dutch citizens with brown skin, and yes some of them are phenomenal at soccer. Who cares?
Posted on 10/6/25 at 6:18 pm to weagle1999
Netherlands has had diversity since 1980s. Best soccer players come from poorer backgrounds.

Same with France. Hell, France produces players for other nations.
