I have walked down the streets of Torreón at night after going to bars with some business associates there and it felt as safe as NOLA or parts of Houston

We go twice a year. Easy direct flights from MSY to CUN and the resorts are amazing. Never felt unsafe but always had stuff like this in the back of my head.
If they start entering hotels and killing or taking Americans hostages, it's going to be a big deal.

I will NEVER go to Mexico, because this is ALWAYS an option that can happen. They try to hide a lot of the violence that happens down there now by cartel. You as an American are ALWAYS a target in Central and South America.
