I don’t have access to the pentagon and highest levels of decision making but you’re an absolute fool if you truly think Trump made this decision without any evidence or advice.

If a credible threat was assessed prior to our attack on Iran there would have been people publicly screaming from the rooftops about it to justify the attacks. Instead we got no confirmation from intelligence agencies about any threat. Because there wasn't one. And most logical people know that.

I believe in this particular instance the most effective way to respond to your question as to the existence and nature of any threat from Iran to the United States is itself a question: what was the “threat” from the Soviet Union towards the United States that could have instigated and gave cause to maintain the extremities of the Cold War??
As an aside, it appears to me that the only thing you’re willing to deem a “threat” is the entire public’s definitive knowledge of a foe pointing some “weapon of mass destruction” at the continental United States, in plain sight, with the further knowledge that said foe’s hand is literally hovering above the launch button. Maybe I’m wrong. I’d like to be, all things considered. But I don’t believe I am.
