Same goes for people like you with this bullshite. Propaganda within our own government is an enemy to the citizens of this country.
Being lectured at by the guy who swallowed the propaganda, all of it, for the previous 6 years.

Dude, you realize that depending on the context Treasuries or any other long duration bond can be extremely risky, right?

What was he supposed to say?

"I'm sorry for fricking everything up and I and my retarded vice president immediately resign" would do.

Especially if you are a retail bank that needs at least to carefully manage liquidity in a regional market that is very cyclical.

If it was someone in office you liked you would be all "he knows what he is doing, etc, etc". They all say the same bull shite. What the frick you want him to say "We are fricked god damn it! Everybody take all their money out of everything and operate on nothing but cash for awhile!", but I am sure the politics board is discussing this so why post this shite here?

I withdrew 100k from my checking account yesterday to get the balance under $250k. It’s going to take a couple of days but feel better with a duffel bag full of cash than trusting any bank.
why would you keep 350k in a checking account?

SVB didn't fail because of its balance sheet

They had a bank run. No bank on Earth could survive that.

This is a psychological crisis, not a financial one.

Yes, but I’d be interested in knowing the maturity times on those by percentage of holding. Too many long term is risky, especially with how the fed interest rates have been managed over the last several years.

The good thing to come out of this is that there's pressure to slow down rate hikes from the fed.

Except they already said they want to raise a half point this month, and more raises to come. Do you doubt their arrogance?

Raising it another point or two gives all the financial institutions a chance to lock down high returns for a long time.

I really wasn't worried at all until I found out he's going to 'fix' it

Now I'm thinking my $22 isn't safe and I need to withdraw it immediately

They’re losing their jobs and shareholders getting zeroed out. Markets appear steady.

I have over 30 accounts spread over six banks and as much of a pain in the arse as this is I’ll probably add another dozen accounts spreading it around to other banks. If anyone wants a new toaster over let me know.

Yea the real culprit is artificially low rates for so long followed by money printing by both parties

His administration is now blaming social media for the collapse of Signature and SVB because people withdrew money.
