Can trauma be inherited? Dr. Joy DeGruy says yes.
In her groundbreaking work Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, Dr. DeGruy — a scholar with over 30 years in social work and clinical psychology — traces how centuries of slavery, followed by Jim Crow and systemic racism, left lasting psychological imprints on Black Americans. Survival behaviors developed under bondage didn't disappear with emancipation. They were passed down, generation to generation, shaping mindsets long after the chains came off.

So what about all the blacks back in Africa who weren't enslaved?

frick all that noise!! I had a very turbulent childhood. Saw things no child should see, up to seeing my mom shoot my dad.
I grew up ok. And have done well as an adult. All that victim crap is an excuse and reason to blame anything other than ones self for their circumstances in life.
