Pointing out that a Stacey Abrams supporter shouldn’t be casting aspersions on someone else’s intelligence is being emotional?

You live in a weird little world.

I didn’t comment on what went wrong. I commented on the stupidity of the average voter and the fragile emotional state shared by most of MAGA.
Fantasizing about random people on the internet committing suicide because they were mean to Trump is a great way to prove my point.
You people are deranged beyond help.

RDS was a good candidate for the wrong time.
Trump’s hardcore support is Trump’s hardcore support. No advertising or door knocking is going to sway that emotional attachment. Desantis’s hardcore supporters and donors either could not, or would not see the reality of that situation.
I think Donors / GOPe initially talked RDS into it and he got bad advice that there were enough malleable Trump supporters that could be convinced.
RDS’s ceiling is was and always will be that 30 percent of Trump supporters. Hell, there was some leaked strategy session about it. Vivek was the one who really beat him in Iowa. RDS got 20 percent with Vivek getting 10.
I probably fell into that 30. I like Trump. I think he was a good president, but I could have maybe been persuaded. But I’m pretty much Trump or bust now. I wish RDS would throw his support behind Trump, not bc he was disloyal- but because it is ABSOLUTELY imperative that Haley does not get the nomination.
Haley has the GOPe and democrats. NOBODY interested in Haley as a candidate (even if these assholes do exist), are choosing btwn her and Ron.
As the campaign in Iowa continued RDS became frustrated with his strategy, and his ego (all politicians are egomaniacs- ALL of them). He got so frustrated he began blaming Trump supporters for preferring Trump for X factor reasons, 70 percent of which he KNEW he would never move from the jump. So, as opposed to distinguishing himself from Trump, or courting Trump supporters, he just insulted them. He could have followed a Vivek strategy BUT Trump STILL would have put 30 points on him. 70 percent of R voters just prefer Trump. And they don’t think Trump got screwed in 2020- they believe THEY got screwed, ignored and otherwise belittled in 2020. It’s Trump 2024 bc frick you that’s why.
I wish, for RDS’s sake that he had simply continued kicking arse in Florida, and waited. ‘‘Twas not meant to be for him this time. I don’t blame Desantis. I blame Pushaw and GOPe for talking him into it in the first place. It was ALWAYS a suicide mission.

It sounds crazy but it almost seems that Trump's base is incredibly loyal and believes that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
There was no way for anyone including Desantis to have known this prior to him declaring his candidacy, so his poor performance is quite shocking.

So DeSantis’ flaccid campaign was Trump’s fault?! I thought blame-shifting was the purview of the Cultists?

So why wasn’t it known by DeSantis’ campaign that this was going to be the case? And why didn’t they have a viable strategy to counter this messaging?

He just isn't a good campaigner. At all.
I think he'd be a pretty good president - not as good as Trump, good anyway. But he can't stop falling over himself on the trail.

Nope, that dubious honor will forever belong to JEB!
This isn't the case, though. By the end of GWB's terms the Bush name wasn't carrying much weight and he never had the kind of approval DeSantis had prior to announcing.

The right wing media deep sixed him.
They are so far up Trump's arse they can taste what he had for breakfast.

I actually think Desantis did very good in Iowa.
By what measure? Trump’s 51% victory was an unprecedented landslide, shattering the previous record of 37.5% set by Bob Dole in 1988.

You have more insight than whoever was apparently directing DeSantis’ ground game.
You should apply to be a DeSantis campaign strategist —after the bloodletting we saw in Iowa, they might in need of some new blood.

When DeSantis officially announced, I repeatedly asked what exactly Christina Pushaw — a John McCain acolyte and a neocon political hack — brought to Team DeSantis?
I voiced the same thoughts along with issues regarding his other campaign advisers. When that tape of the campaign strategy meeting leaked, I discussed in a thread that I thought they were off target. I was savaged by DeSantis supporters for questioning the campaign and assured I didn’t know what I was saying. Oh well.
It was an absolute horrible campaign and I think a troubling problem was confirmed with DeSantis: he is a poor campaigner. He’s a great governor, but he’s a poor campaigner.
He barely slipped by that black gay druggie. He won a landslide reelection because of his record, not his campaign skills. And on the national stage he has to sell himself; just being a good governor in FL doesn’t transfer to a national success. It’s a whole new game, from scratch.
Bottom line is I think DeSantis is a good executive and a bad political campaigner. I think his future, if there is one, is as head of an important department in a future Republican administration (if there is one).

Well, the good news for us all is that DeSantis has provided the template for how other states can pushback against Federal overreach.
If enough Red States elected Governors with the backbone to stand up to the increasingly tyrannical dictates of Washington D.C., we just might — might — actually see Republicans advancing Liberty.
And yes, I’m speaking to you my fellow Alabama voters!
