With the proper ammunition and a well-maintained rifle, the following accuracy can be expected:

Untouched military surplus: A Mauser that is in its original military configuration and in decent shape is often capable of 3-4 Minutes of Angle (MOA) accuracy. At 100 yards, this means groups of 3 to 4 inches, which is sufficient for many hunting applications.

Sporterized rifles: The accuracy of a sporterized rifle depends on the quality of the conversion.
