Americans are now evenly split between the pro-life and pro-choice labels, after a 9-percentage-point jump in those calling themselves pro-life.

The latest Marist poll finds 47 percent of Americans identify as pro-life and 47 percent identify as pro-choice. Just one month ago, however, Americans were more likely to identify as pro-choice than pro-life by 17 percentage points—55 to 38 percent.

The poll surveyed 1,008 American adults from February 17-19, 2019.

Dema overplayed their hand by supporting 3rd trimester abortions and infanticide. Hey have now infuriated the people. Good. It’s about time they reveal their demonic faces

Probably has something to do with the pro-choice left enthusiastically supporting infanticide

Considering Dems are calling infanticide abortion and a baby that was born at 24 weeks was just released from the hospital to go home you'd kinda hope it would at least get even.

"Let us remember that the unborn child....is made in the image of God"

A powerful message, and I thought, the line of the speech.
This alone, changed more than a few undecided minds.

Reading between the lines -

The mask slipped on Dems and people have realized that “pro choice” means “widespread infanticide”.

And yet conservatives will never outlaw abortion bc so many of them have had one.

Isn't life funny like that?

Therr will be a day when abortion will be seen as what it is, torture and murder of the weakest and those that supported it will be remembered as barbarians, they are on the Wrong sude of history and science.

I honestly believe that the Democrats have misjudged the political climate on abortion. A large chunk of millennials are pro-marijuana legalization, pro-gay marriage, pro-universal healthcare, but still hold abortion in a different light. They didn't witness Roe v Wade and they don't quite have the bloodlust for killing children that their parents have. I sincerely hope this overreach by the Dems costs them some independents that might be fiscally and socially left but cannot stomach government-sanctioned murder of innocents. At the very least, I hope it motivates the right to wake up and vote their conscience.

I posted this on 2-2-19 and was downvoted for some reason... I feel a little justified now..

This is great news!! but like all polls:

I don't find them very representative of the population 1,008/330,000,000ish..

Standing and gleefully applauding the killing of babies tends to make people sick. Think about it: probably over 80% of our prison population have more of a conscience than do democrats.

There is a big difference between outlawing abortion and making sensible legislation allowing it at sensible times. I have no problems with allowing abortions in cases of rape, incest, and even if the parents can reasonably demonstrate they would be complete frick ups at parenting as long as the abortion takes place in the first half or so of the pregnancy. I don't think a Shakira law (whenever, wherever) is sensible legislation though.

To me conception is not life, it is the potential for life and that makes a difference. A lot of things never reach their potential. The further along the pregnancy goes the more that gauge slides towards life and away from potential for life but until the fetus is capable of relying on it's own circulatory, digestive, respiratory, and other biological systems I don't consider it to be a separate individual. I get that everybody's mileage varies on this but there should be plenty of room for a reasonably happy middle ground here when both sides are not acting like doofi.

Several conservative states have already restricted abortion where possible with the support of conservative voters. It’s likely that at least some states would outlaw it entirely if the SCOTUS ever overturned Roe and pushed the issue back to the states.
