Poincarè warned everyone that the treaty of Versailles was not harsh enough on Germany and that it would never hold because although territory was taken they did not dismantle the Germans economy. Less than 20 years later a, wwII or world war 11 if you are Somalian.

I love how people say things like this with no concept of how hypocritical and counterintuitive it is. You think it morally defensible to "dismantle Germany's economy" and effectively force subjugation and technological arrested development on a population of 80 million? Germany is inherently a powerful state due to having an intelligent and resourceful native population in the 10’s of millions. Somehow the Anglophiles believe Germany to always be unjust in seeking to elevate their status and resources in the world while the British are somehow always justified in their methods to artificially restrict them or subject them to Anglo geopolitical superiority. Ahh yes, the British and French didn’t contribute mightily to the outbreak of WWII because they sought to keep the German state in a perpetual position of subordination but rather because they didn’t go far enough to subordinate the German nation! And this is the supposed argument from the moral authorities.

Germany became a problem once they began to coalesce into a single nation-state in the latter 19th century because the geopolitical power they possessed immediately upon unity was readily apparent to everyone.

The British Empire (the irony of them lecturing anyone about subjugation, racism, etc is not unrecognized by me and many others) did not want to permit any continental power, be it French or German, to arise and threaten their hegemony. When it suited them, they sided against France. When it suited them in a new geopolitical context, they sided with France against Germany. After WWI, the new German state was forbidden to unite with Austria, irrespective if it was what both states wanted. The naked geopolitical motivations of the WWI victors cannot be ignored except by the ignorant and willfully blind. Both world wars were totally idiotic and the British Empire and its domineering and short sighted foreign policy philosophy is every bit as guilty for the wars. It’s laughable and totally revisionist to portray the British as high minded and motivated by altruism or moral considerations. They were motivated purely by power politics.

The problem is that if we continue to ignore the lessons of the British Empire in these conflicts we run the risk of making the same mistakes and dooming our own country to the fate they suffered post-WWII. The British Empire “won” WWII and now their civilization in less than a century is verging on utter collapse. The entire continent now appears at a civilizational crossroads at a time when Europe and the United States should be absolute dominating powers of the world.

After the First World War, there was a great opportunity for the leaders in the West to have learned a lesson regarding the stupidity of going to war with another in the modern age of warfare. The victors paid lip service to the Wilson principles of self determination but in practice they dictated borders for their own geopolitical ends and their efforts to control Germany led to its internal political instability which handicapped all moderate governments and facilitated the conditions for radical political factions to rise. Had the Nazis not ascended it well may have been Communists that seized control of Germany and allied with the USSR and you have WWII of a different variety.

The arguments Tucker raises are certainly legitimate and the delusion regarding WWII’s origins plays right into the hands of the neo-cons and war hawks who can manipulate the masses with the propaganda narrative of WWII, which is why you constantly hear everything compared to it when someone wants to convince the public to support a military endeavor.

While true a complete beat down and better handling after the first round would have prevented Hitler from even getting noticed

The problem was not the treaty of Versailles. The problem was the Allies did not actually go into Germany. Thus, Hitler and his people could get away with the LIE. They were backstabbed. If the Allies invade and occupy Germany, different story. Eisenhower cited that as one of his justifications for not stopping at the Rhine

If that’s true, you should probably listen. History has been very kind to Buchanan’s predictions

Excellent analysis. I read all of it. Thanks for posting.

Then Pershing was a fricking idiot. More trench warfare was gonna lead to people turning on their own leaders before it was gonna lead to some complete and total victory.

Every country was just sending their men into a meat grinder; generations of them. It had to stop. And if some dumbfrick general named Pershing or whoever else wanted to keep sending men into that mess, then he is an a-hole.

Think of how many millions of polish citizens wouldn’t have died if the soviets wouldn’t have taken them over

Fox News posters on here think that Russia is so evil today and we have to support our second greatest ally the Ukraine in their fight for freedom but 80 years ago? Russia was our second greatest ally and they would never ever do anything bad like killing 100 million people. If you were a noticer you might think that the media has been pushing the communism = good message for a long time and when a country becomes capitalist with a relevant global economy they become our enemy

Go read about Hitlers occupation of Poland, his plans for Poland and Hans Frank’s General Government and get back to us. He wanted to completely annihilate the Poles as a people and a culture
