Louisiana passed a similar law this past session. Truly odd. They don't even require you to pledge loyalty to America. lol

Man, I hate when people can't have a rational conversation about how stupid Something like this is so they have to resort to the dumbest, most extreme counterargument.

And you think this doesn’t reinforce some peoples’ claim that International Jewry and Israel are calling the shots?

Louisiana contracts have the same wording.

While I agree with you, I am sure someone could make a legitimate argument in the other direction.

quote:

You still fail to say how specifying loyalty to one specific country benefits the people of Arkansas and is in their best interest when deciding where their tax dollars are spent.

You fail to make the argument that Arkansas requires this loyalty to a specific country to be awarded a state contract. It clearly doesn't. All it says is the contractor/supplier does not boycott Israel, but if it does, it must notify the public contracting agency.

Sorry, but that is a far far cry from pledging allegiance to Israel.

Yea OP and others overstating it (as usual) undermines opposition to it.

I find it incredibly annoying that state legislatures across the country have wasted a single second enacting do-nothing shite like this.

You left out a huge part of what happens if they notify the contracting agency.

quote:

If a contractor notifies an Arkansas public agency in writing that they are beginning a boycott of Israel, they are officially triggering a change in status that invalidates their original compliance pledge.

According to Arkansas Code § 25-1-503, the state cannot maintain a contract with a company actively engaging in a boycott.

Once that written notification is received, the agency must take immediate action.

Immediate Next Steps for the Contracting Agency

Contract Termination: The state agency will initiate formal procedures to terminate the agreement because the contractor is no longer compliant with mandatory state procurement laws.

The 20% Price Renegotiation (Alternative): If the contractor is providing an absolute necessity or wants to keep the contract, they must immediately restructure the pricing. The law allows the contract to survive only if the company slashes its pricing to be at least 20% lower than the next lowest certifying business.

Procurement Blacklisting: The contractor’s updated status is logged with the Office of State Procurement. They will be flagged as an uncertified vendor, blocking them from bidding on any future state or local public contracts valued at $1,000 or more unless they offer the mandatory 20% discount upfront.

It being mandatory sure sounds like pledging loyalty to

ETA: Telling the company to slash its price by 20% is the most Jew thing they could do.

Looks like in LA it means no contract for you:

quote:

Core Requirements in Louisiana

Written Certification: Vendors must submit a signed statement confirming they do not participate in a boycott of Israel when submitting a bid or signing a contract.

Contract Duration: Vendors must agree not to boycott Israel while the public contract remains active.

Contract Termination: The state maintains the legal right to cancel agreements if a vendor starts a boycott during the term.

Your thread title is inaccurate, how does it contribute to meaningful discussion? You don't want discussion, you want outrage. you will get a little outrage, but dream on for meaningful discussion.

Cut the crap on meaningful discussion around here.

GreatlLakes admitted his affinity on here for Fuentes, and general disdain for Israel . So I will call him out every time he posts his whataboutisms, whether you like it or not.

He doesn't need white knighted.

In addition, Sarah’s dad enjoyed his sit down with Jonathan Pollard. He met with the dude who committed espionage and sold us out to Israel. The apple known as Sarah didn’t fall far from the tree known as Mike.

I wasn't white knighting for him and my thread title should cause outrage because it is outrageous that this is a thing in any state.

Arkansas law specifically says it is mandatory or you lose the contract.

Except none of that is in the law. Here is a link to the actual text of the law:

Again, I am not advocating that this is a good or bad thing. I am simply saying that the rhetoric in the OP is disingenuous. Personally, I can see some merits in it but it's also a slippery slope politicizing government contracts. HOWEVER, i tend to think this has more to do with Arkansas (and other states) Pension fund investments, rather than Billy Joe Bob, Inc kissing the wailing wall in Little Rock. That is why the firearm, ammo, fossil fuel stuff was added as well.
