I don’t think Planned Parenthood has ever done abortions in Louisiana. They have provided low cost women’s heath treatment and birth control meds in locations with a high poverty rate clientele. And they are not being replaced in those areas, so this is actually a bad thing for public health.

I was in New Orleans a couple weeks ago and a friend that had never been wanted to walk to the French Quarter.

There was a fat, 300# woman in a Planned Parenthood shirt asking for donations - she uttered the phrase "We can't perform abortions here anymore, the closest state is actually Illinois."

Planned Parenthood continued to provide other services while helping Louisianans access out-of-state abortion care, covering costs including airfare, lodging and child care.

There is still a need for women’s health. I thought only 0.001% of PP services was abortions. Weird.

Exactly.

They’ve claimed that for years, yet this state has a disturbing maternal mortality rate.

So we agree Planned Parenthood did nothing to help that . Maternal mortality rate has nothing to do with access to abortion. No pro-lifer has ever argued that mothers should die. If the mother's life is in danger, they can deliver the baby and do everything medically possible to save the child. That's healthcare; not ripping a human being apart in their mother's womb.

Quite interesting in that the mortality rate is higher among people who qualify for free health care.

This is a great opportunity for all the liberals to show us how humane they are. Will liberals donate their own money for these services or do they only care about them when the money is taken from the taxpayers?

Put your money where your mouth is, liberals.

Planned Parenthood to close in Louisiana after more than 40 years

But why?

I've been assured that most of their funding comes from private donations?

This is weird.

Funny how when your main income revenue stops that you have to close on down, though they used to try their hardest to claim that it was only "3% of their services"

quote:

The closures come as the organization's national affiliate, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, wages a legal battle against efforts by the Trump administration to end Medicaid payments to its clinics. More than half of Planned Parenthood patients rely on Medicaid, the federal health care program that serves millions of low-income and disabled Americans. A federal judge has temporarily blocked the administration's efforts.

Sounds like issue with overall payments and not limited to abortions
