Basically this comes down to the Bell Curve. Half the people in this country, and any country for that matter, are of below average intelligence. That doesn't mean they'll automatically vote one way or the other, but it does mean they are more susceptible to propaganda and they're very easy to instill fear in.
This is where the most powerful media machine in the history of the species comes in. And it's why the Uniparty is so insistent on controlling Social Media. They already own the MSM. So they have an easy time making it look like they have a consensus. On Twitter they created a monument to fabricating conformity with bots. Most people can't tell when they're interacting with a bot and with ChatGPT style AI that's infinitely worse than it ever was.
So to answer your question, it's because they own the brainwashing machine and at least, AT LEAST, half the people in the country are completely susceptible to the power of it and vote accordingly.

The majority of US citizens are in the middle yet republicans have become run by far right extremist while the dim party has many far left extremists they, for the most part, don't run the party.

They are the party of manipulation, corruption, and lies and the general populous is easily manipulated and rather dumb. They are the party that has convinced the low information voter that they need to rely on daddy government as opposed to relying one's self. They are the party that does a good job of identity politics that appeal to people's emotions and that his how they get their support. They never can actually run on policy because their actual policies are atrocious.

The left found a playbook and stuck to it. “Rules for Radicals”. They stuck to it no matter what.
The right draws plays up in the sand as they go along.
The left took over media, Hollywood, education, tech, social media, etc. the right had Rush Limbaugh, AM radio, and a wishy washy Fox News.
When you have a nation of mostly gullible drones.. that’s all you need for the left.
Case in point… the left shouted “25th amendment!!” The entire first year of Trump. But they have zero inclination of it now. Biden took a trip from DC to MS to tour the delta town of Rolling Fork. All the way here it was visiting rolling Fork….. landed at airport, going to rolling fork…. Signs around town, Rolling Fork… and the idiot got up and called the town “Rolling Stone”. And you never hear them say anything about his complete incompetence.
How do you think the left loons come here and get completely blindsided when they try to make a point? Because they don’t hear anything bad about their party. They actually don’t know. They never hear it. They are programmed and they come marching. When their programming is challenged… they retreat and get more programming.
They are full in on “climate change”, but never, ever, ever, criticize their leaders of the climate change grift as they use their private jets, heat and cool their multiple homes, waste electricity, waste fuel, spew carbon, etc. why? They don’t get that in their programming. So they stick to the script. The script written by the institutions the left took over.

Obviously most here will disagree but:
- most people I know that lean left aren’t on board with the FAR left, especially as you all characterize it. It’s easy to throw a big umbrella over all of it and dismiss it all as “evil” or whatever, so people revert to that even though it would be as stupid as calling all conservatives Timothy Mcveigh or the Q-Anon shaman guy.
- the most liberal thing people I know identify with is healthcare. I really don’t know people who give a frick about culture wars and I certainly don’t either.
- the left is winning more often despite all this because the right very often picks loser candidates that deal in clickbait headlines. Independents will go for establishment stupid over regular stupid 8 days a week.
- most people I know that lean left aren’t on board with the FAR left, especially as you all characterize it. Conservatives and even moderate liberals tend to have jobs, families, and standing in their communities. Far leftists typically don't. Or if they do, their positions are often built upon hard left institutions.
This makes them able to act with more impunity than do centrists and conservatives. It's a force multiplier.
Meanwhile, extreme right wing people who might fit the "nothing to lose" category tend to be very contrarian. So they act out individually rather than as part of a coordinated whole.

A tyranny shoots up a school and school kids. Before the children are even in their Graves Madonna wants to do a benefit concert in that city for trans rights and not the victims.
So who listens to Madonna and gives a flip what she thinks? These 30, 40 and 50 year old white women who are voting, teaching and raising kids.
Also the kids think this is fun to protest the man.. they think they are changing the world for the better.
Just as a prime example.

The left allows personal responsibility to be cast aside when needed. Little if any behavior is wrong or the person's fault. Of you're doing poorly, it's someone else's fault. If you can't delay gratification or put in effort to support yourself, the left suggests the government and the rich should do it for you.
