The timing of this interview release is interesting. Shawn knew.

Good news as I feel like a bullet was dodge even though I don't currently know anything about this guy. I just know he is better than the contender I feared/heard would get the job.

I think you made this post as a compliment to him and I’m having a hard time wrapping my mind around your framing

If you think that post is a full throated endorsement you are very wrong.

I'm kind of getting Debt of Honor vibes with some of these picks. This one included.

Guess we'll see if it works in reality versus a book.

*Haven't read it in 20 years. May have to pull it off the shelf.

It wasn't a compliment to either one. I have no problem with Hegseth as a person. An Army Lt Col with no Battalion or Corps Command experience , or any general corporate leadership experience isn't qualified to be Secretary. Trump put him there to be a yes man, and if he was 1st choice, that's more troubling.

Ok that makes more sense. I thought you might be one of these people who repeats fancy words and doesn’t know what they mean. I agree with you pretty much

I am guessing Trump could have just picked one of the Obama era dick suckers that lets defense companies frick over American citizens.

The problem with a guy like Pete is that the swamp is a nasty and treacherous place. You need someone with experience wading through the swamp to know how to survive in it.

Well, that's the dilemma Trump faces with appointments. When you trust swamp rats to help navigate, they may bite you in the arse.

He a sharp guy. Hopefully he knows enough people to surround himself with those that know how to navigate the Pentagon.

Great hire! Out of the box hire but not really. He’s young, intelligent and a former combat officer. Why not go this route instead of the old 3 star general waiting for his retirement into a nice cushy defense contractor’s executive office? He will do great at truly getting our military back to the feared fighting force it has been in the past and not the woke bullshite of Obama and Biden.
