The dem co chair was introed as a bud in bipartisan blah blah blah. Then that dem took apart Pete.
The dem goal is to have him not confirmed.
Yet the republicans voted in Lloyd Austin as he was a board member of Raytheon and clearly had social experiments in his game plan.

It's partisan politics. His nomination will be forwarded to the full Senate on a party line vote.
Republicans are more likely to vote for a Democrat nominee - the way it should be - than the other way around.

Watch 15 minutes of Lloyd Austins hearing. Leon Panetta opined him in and there was no silly protesters.

Most SecDefs are on the board of or employed by Defense Contractors prior to being confirmed. They ensure that our forever and proxy wars will not be interrupted by whoever occupies the Oval Office.
