Numbers are all over the place for this. Also, I've seen reports that show over half of illegal immigrants entered the country legally, and overstayed.

OK, here is the cold hard truth my friends. I have had lots of conversations with young idealistic people IRL. The discussions were very cordial. I keep getting a recurring theme that goes like this:
1. The govt has a gazzilion dollars. It's kept in a huge building in Wash, DC.
2. The govt decides who gets some money and who doesn't.
3. If the govt wasn't so mean they would send enough money to poor people so that they would no longer be poor.
4. In my best Jesse Watters voice I ask "How much money should the govt send to poor people so that they won't be poor?" The answer is usually something like "One time payment of $30K. If they can't make it on their own after that then they can stay poor."
I know it sounds ridiculous, but people out there are much dumber than you think.
