I'm sure being caught indoctrinating on camera is a big concern for scumbag teachers. I simultaneously can't fault them wanting to put out such a statement in advance so non-students don't kill the usual classroom dynamic.
Thread title also isn't consistent with the requested simple acknowledgment of guidelines.
Signed acknowledgment or not I would definitely be peeping on the history/social science.

It is actually more about privacy issues of the other kids in the class.
Yeah, sounds like a typical Dimocrat policy to me.

To paraphrase the protesters chants:
Who house? My house.
Who laptop? My laptop.
Who house? My house.
Who laptop? My laptop.

What are they trying to hide from the parents?

Appears to be a clear violation of FERPA if the student is under 18 y/o.

I'm sorry, but did I miss where the teacher-student relationship is confidential?
Obviously Doctor-Patient, and Attorney-Client relationships are confidential for all obvious reasons, but for Teacher-Student?
Absolutely fricking not. I'd not only not sign this, I'd make it a point to sit in on every instruction.

This is likely related to the teacher bitching online the other day about how hard it is to indoctrinate kids with their parents overhearing things.
Only about as much as the temperature falling to 32 degrees Fahrenheit or less is related to water changing into ice.

This is half about indoctrination and half about giving kids a space to talk freely about drugs, sex,and racism

I could sign that waiver and park myself on the other side of the computer.
Then, when a teacher accuses me of violating the agreement, I would just simply say, "I didn't SEE a thing."

Parents have every right to observe these online lessons.

ETA: I am talking about private schools.
Our private school wants us to have opportunities to observe the class.
Our private school expects a healthy family and respectful community atmosphere also.

Just read it again.
The author clearly doesn't know the difference between enforceable documents (Policy, Standard) and unenforceable documents (Guideline).
A guideline, by its very definition, is OPTIONAL.

So what happens if the parents refuse to sign?
Posted on 8/17/20 at 11:27 am to anc
They would keep sending it home... id send back a note saying “the dog ate your waiver”.
