Our POTUS gives drug offender another chance

Womack has also been previously convicted on other drug-related charges several times. In the federal case where he received the commutation, he was indicted on April 26, 2023, on one count of distributing over five grams of meth and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He was sentenced in federal court in May 2024 to eight years in prison for distributing more than grams of methamphetamine.

and considering the following blurb, this may be a compassionate thing.
Womack's statement, "I am grateful to President Trump for this gracious and thoughtful action. The commutation has allowed my son to be with his family during a profoundly difficult time, and the President’s phone conversation with my wife and her care team made an impression that I’ll cherish forever."
Looks like the wife is ill.
Still don't like it- but this makes more sense.

Then, a few more posts down I commented that it seems there were some unfortunate family circumstances that prompted it AND that at least it doesn't change the circumstances of his supervision.
