My job puts me in contact with multiple people from the PNW that moved to the south. From what they tell me, everything is run by Seattle and Portland in their respective states and if you aren't there your opinion basically doesn't matter.

They've killed some major industries in those states. Everything that happens is someone in the cities saying "well yeah this sounds great" and it gets passed. Nothing is looked at beyond surface level, which is also true in most areas, but there is zero pushback on anything.
