Only way to get rid of illegals is to make it impossible for them to stay

1) cut off medicaid/SNAP/EBT/Section 8/etc. to any state that does not provide DL and voter rolls. Everyone suffers. Their inclination to protect illegals will evaporate.
2) debank them and drop a hammer in any bank/lender/credit union/etc. that does not. This goes to not cashing paychecks by issuing banks.
3) 100% tax on remittances
4) announce a 15 day safe harbor for employers to discharge all illegals. After that, any illegal on a worksite = arrest of management/owners and seizure of businesses
5) increase self deportation "reward" to $10k
You'll have at least 5 million gone by end of the year.

This site is mostly populated by a pack of dullards, but every time I have said the same thing I have gotten a million downvotes.
You don't even have to do all the stuff you just said.
Just pass a law that upgrades the crime of being here illegally to a felony punishable by a minimum of 10 years in federal prison (with hard labor, if that's still legal) instead of a misdemeanor that is essentially the equivalent of a parking ticket.
Give them six months to get the hell out and then start arresting them for real. You wouldn't find a single one in country after 30 days of that first dime sentence.

I'd be as generous as 90 days for employers to clean up their payrolls. Plenty of time to hire Americans to do the job with minimal impact. We're not talking about skilled work here.

$10M fine per head should do it. The penalties for being caught having an illegal in your employ needs to be company-killing.

We should also go heavy at the foreign governments that knowingly allow this to happen. For example, if you can get Mexico to keep the folks from even reaching the border, then that’s a win. Mexico allowed this to happen for years because they didn’t want the people either. Punish them too.

I wouldn’t reward them for self-deportation, honestly. Then you’d just get a lot of them coming in for that reward.

This part I enthusiastically DISAGREE with. Here's why: by killing the business, you put LEGITIMATE employees out of work. You would also encourage them NOT to report the business for its illegal practices.
I am in favor of very stiff fines, and reward money for people who turn their employers in to the feds.

Just do this and it makes an enormous difference. Instead of additional IRS delinquency tracer employees, shift 75% to tracing/audits of businesses large and small to resubmission of FTE SSN, Birth Cert and Visa confirmation documents. Failure is rife w fine and accumulation jail per count. No quarter.
