Wrong.

How can I be wrong? I said this was one of MY favorites, not the best political skit.

I was riffing off the SNL thing and channeling John McLaughlin in his many iterations there.

Another funny thing is that Al Franken is playing one of the senators in the skit. Obviously he later became an actual senator only to reap the consequences of he and his ilks "metoo" crusade. Maybe it was the bow tie that forced him to pretend to grab a woman's boobs.

But notice how you cannot compare them to the SNL skits when Bill “#MeToo” Clinton perjured himself in a court of law, or got a hummer from an intern in the Oval Office?

Because SNL protects mashing and perjury, while pretending Bill’s worse sin is eating a Big Mac!
Settle down. There was a time when they were just funny, without getting all political.

There were times when they were hysterical.
But they were always political. See my Chevy link.

Soooo....
You’re advising me not to examine the political aspects on the Politics Thread. Yep, I went back to check in case I wondered onto the Entertainment or Humorous Threads and this is Political.

Gloss over.
The scandal wasn’t Monica it was perjury.

Notice in the OP link that they make fun of Bill’s love of fast food but highlight his concern for the average person and masterful grasp of facts and in-depth plans to help.

Compare that to the way the Reagan skit portrays him as a fake dunce who is the master manipulator who has no time for his fellow Americans and old friends.

This goes back to the very beginning of SNL.
They are a liberal front to promote liberal philosophy by making fun of their enemies!

Go back and watch Chevy Chases admission that this is what they did!

To believe otherwise is sophistry! And I don’t think you’re that stupid!

Often down voted in this thread but never successfully refuted.
One man’s melting is another winning.

But so far in this thread I’ve kicked arse!

Don’t go away angry. Just go away!

Never forget Dana Carvey as Ross Perot trying to ditch Phil Hartman as Admiral Stockdale.....I believe they were both in a car and Perot was trying to ditch Stockdale.

This went from a "look at this funny SNL skit" to some dude melting about said funny SNL skit.

The crap they do today isn't funny. They aren't being satirical. They are being just plain mean. Back when Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman et al did the sketches, they were simply trying to be funny. Not mean. Big difference.

You think so?

I guess if you think coming across as a whiny bitch is kicking arse, then you have.

Not melting. This is the Political Thread not the OT. I discussed how SNL was Politically biased from it’s inception. And yes, it was funny.

Dana as Bush the Elder was hysterical.

But let’s look at what Dana said about entertainment and politics:
LINK
quote:

Carvey's satirical impersonation of President George H.W. Bush was a big hit for him on SNL. However, Bush, who invited him to the White House to do the impression for him, was a good sport about it. "The first two years, Bush was so popular we were just going with what the rhythm was," Carvey told Kozlowski. "Then, when the country’s mood turned and got a little more satirical towards him, it certainly didn’t help him, but he could sense I’m not an ideologue in the traditional sense where 'someone who opposes me is my enemy.' I’m an Americanist. I’m a radical moderate. He sensed that and did not take it personally. Only think I could think of is you left an "n" out of winning. Unless you were attempting to spell whining. Which would be stupid.

So go to the English teacher, grammar and spelling police school of how to exit a debate when logic and facts go against you.
