are you implying that every American has access to transportation and grocery stores
In my rural area there are people who do not have their own transportation. If they are not addicted to drugs, they can get food delivered by local churches. The reason that the churches will not deliver food to drug addicts is that some of them will trade the food for drugs. There are also community volunteers who regularly deliver food to senior citizens who do not drive and help them get to medical appointments and the pharmacy.

I think no matter how sophisticated and wealthy a society becomes, there will always be humans who fail their children.
I also think there is zero excuse for a kid starving in America. If there are, it’s not because the system is broken. It’s because people are broken.

I am going to say this about you.
You need a life changing attitude adjustment.
You are a first class, piece of trash.

They are communists.
It’s the community that should take care of them.
But look at how that works in certain communities that push this nonsense. When everyone skirts their responsibilities then all the kids suffer because no one is caring for them.

If they are truly going hungry, based on the unbelievable numbers I’ve seen of low income fatass single moms, odds are, kids meals are being eaten by mama.

quote:beans, rice, ground beef, veggies, bread, sandwich stuff, fruit are not expensive. I just made enough dirty rice to feed my family of 4 at least 3 times, total cost about $15, and it's delicious af. I also just bought 8 giant 1.5 inch thick pork chops at Costco for $14 total, $1.99/lb. Brined them all and froze half for later, will smoke and sear the rest, cheap and delicious (and no, a Costco membership is not too expensive for poor people, $55/year. Most people who's kids are going hungry spend more than that a week on cigs or alcohol, etc). The all organic horse shite may be super expensive, but just regular nutritious food, nope. Ive never seen someone using their food stamps just buying healthy staple foods, it's always the opposite.
Some folks holler about the problem of obesity, but they seldom mention that healthy food simply costs more.

We have food deserts,
Those "food deserts" are CAUSED by the shitty behavior of those "poors" you people are wrongheadedly white-knighting for.
Food is available if you seek it.
Help is always available, the raping of the American Taxpayer makes sure of that.
In most cases, poverty is not something THAT HAPPENS TO YOU, it's something you caused by a series of never ending bad choices.
At any rate, Liberal White women and their stupid Political ideologies are responsible for prolonging the suffering, not alleviating it.

Blaming people doesn’t feed children.
Yet you spend hours upon hours blaming White men instead of curing Societies ills.
Which is sort of ironic considering MOST of Societies ills are caused by the shitty Political ideologies and bad life choices of Liberal women.

Lots of shitty parents out there. No excuse for a kid to go hungry in America. They don't have to be eating top shelf dinner but to not give them something is crazy
Should have them thrown in the slammer for child abuse

Sounds like another one of those AggieHank "Let me pull some numbers out of my arse and hope no one actually checks" tomes that turns out ot be false or at least greatly exaggerated/maniupulated.

Your article didn’t say they died from starvation. Dying from starvation in the US is exceedingly rare. So rare that it isn’t tracked as a statistic.
The most common reason for dying of starvation in the US is a person starving themselves. The second most common cause of starvation in the US is when someone is dependent upon someone else for food - usually infants or elderly - and the caretaker, in an act of criminal neglect, does not feed them adequately.
Your article says that 1400 people died from malnutrition.
quote:
It can result from not eating enough but also from poor eating habits that lead to nutritional deficiencies. The majority of deaths in California from malnutrition last year occurred in residents 85 and older.
The Covid shutdowns contributed greatly to this issue, per your article.
