Wonder what our response would be if Iran used a "weakened" nuclear weapon against the UAE? or against anyone? I assume that would be a dirty bomb? idk.

Democrats want to run out the clock ( I believe it’s 60 days) so they can force voting for war.

Trump said during the ceasefire he was resetting the clock to zero. Guess the theory is as long as we’re just defensively retaliating the clock stays at zero.

I'm a little confused here- why are we having to give reassurances that we're not attacking Iran? We made repeated threats to bomb their power plants, which we only extended based on the notion that negotiations were going on. We've given those negotiations almost a month to work and they've gone nowhere. Iran's demands are more maximalist than ever, in fact. That being the case, why are we not making good on our old promises to attack their power plants instead of suddenly making meek statements that we aren't attacking them?

I think it has something to do with staying outside the 60-day requirements of the War Powers Act.

Good question... I would also have to wonder if China's or Russia's support would continue if any form if a Nuc was introduced.

It would certainly be a event that would change the calculus for many... not sure anyone wants that....

Another question would be how would Israel respond? Not sure they would ask permission if radioactive weapons of any sort were introduced...

I will assume if a destructive nuclear device went off over our ships or over Israel, much of Iran would be destroyed. If a dirty device went off and permenantly contaminated either, also, much of Iran would be destroyed. IDK what would happen if it happened to one of the gulf states, probably partial destruction of key military areas, but not major cities. I wouldn't expect major cities to be destroyed unless a major city or air craft carrier is destroyed by Iran.

How do you get weapons to the civilians without risking the weapons will be taken by the IRGC?

Iran is a big country. Just a few days ago their propaganda arm posted a size comparison of Iran versus the US, mocking Trump, saying we can’t shut everything down.

If we want to get them weapons we can, just can’t trust the Kurds (who we gave them to weeks ago.

Don’t forget, when we rescued the airman we basically built a temporary base with a runway inside their country, and they didn’t have a clue it existed.

If anyone used a nuclear bomb of any type, the whole world would be angry as hell. As far as response goes, we would unleash Hell on them. Iran would look like surface of the moon after we are done with them.

Using a nuclear weapon in today's world is a losing proposition long term, especially if your capability is not up to snuff with the super powers of the world and you are unable to wipe your opponent off the face of the earth. It would demand not only a response from us and Israel, but a large number of 1st world nations would take steps to make sure it does not happen again. It would be an issue too serious and large to ignore.

At this point, I don't expect any US led action against Iran anytime soon. We want to get those commercial ships that are trapped in the gulf out via Project Freedom. FIRST. Any action in a huge attack on Iran would stop that operation because Iran would attack those ships.

I'm not disagreeing with what you say, but to look at all scenairos. Iran sends what is essentially a dirty bomb to UAE. It contaminates a hundred square miles and kills 2 dozen nomads. They say "it is a warning."

I can't see the USA leveling Tehran and most of the cities in Iran. Maybe, I'm wrong. Or is the use of a dirty bomb open the door for "no such thing as proportional response in nuclear weapon use"?

What do you think the hold-up is? Are we having a hard time recruiting ships to participate?

There's 2 destroyers and those container/oil ships move very slowly. Takes hours. Not sure how many they can move at once.

The recent satellite pictures showed both destroyers very close to each other in the persian gulf.

I've mulled this. If Israel committed a ground force in Gaza, they know their ground capabilities.

I wonder if Israel is so committed to eliminating Iran, that they'd commit ground troops in the thousands to take cities and train the populace.

They could start in the cities and towns to the east of Baghdad.

Israel might be thinking this is the chance they've waited for.

Within 6 months they'd have an Iranian army in the tens of thousands.

Thank you @WhiteHouse for supporting independent journalists.

HERRIDGE: Secretary Rubio, have you seen any recent indications that Iran is willing to give up its nuclear weapons program that is credible, verifiable, and that would lead to an immediate de-escalation?

Good points. Thanks.

Not to be a buzz kill, but at this rate it would take years to "free" the trapped ships. Is this just a gesture to slow oil prices while we hope the Iranian Regime collapses?
