I'm a little confused here- why are we having to give reassurances that we're not attacking Iran? We made repeated threats to bomb their power plants, which we only extended based on the notion that negotiations were going on. We've given those negotiations almost a month to work and they've gone nowhere. Iran's demands are more maximalist than ever, in fact. That being the case, why are we not making good on our old promises to attack their power plants instead of suddenly making meek statements that we aren't attacking them?

I guess, but has the War Powers Act ever had any teeth at all? Courts don't like to get involved in foreign policy/military matters, so any order issued by a liberal judge would get overturned by SCOTUS. Just ignore the War Powers Act or say it was reset by the cease fire so now we have a new 60-day period to work with.
