Its the same tech that is in things like motion lights and smart home tech to detect if someone is in a room. It isnt some miracle in military radar that nobody knows about. It has its uses but it also has some major flaws like not being able to detect anything moving directly towards the sensor and short range compared to traditional radars.

We have gotten a play by play of the rescue of a downed airmen, but according to posters here the administration has successfully hid the deaths of 1000s of US personnel and incapacitated aircraft carrier.

Are you seriously confusing passive radar technology with passive infrared (PIR)? The R in PIR does not stand for Radar...you know that right?
Passive radar uses illuminators of opportunity vs. an active emission, which means EW systems are ineffective against it.
It also detects and targets stealth signatures more effectively than active radar. It is NOT useful for Fire Control, but there are very effective non-radar based anti-aircraft systems.
The post to which I referred was about an F-15 not receiving a radar warning/lock. This is entirely possible since passive radar was likely in use (hence no radar warning), which detected and targeted, and then FC was conducted by a non-radar AA system (infrared, etc.).

If the Iranians had a new system it would be near value sites and being used again. All of the evidence points to a manual or a lucky shot with an anti-aircraft machine gun.
