Did anyone ever say that Iran could keep the US from destroying its bridges and infrastructure? Most people just assumed the US wouldn’t be deliberately harming the people of Iran in this way.
The surprising thing is that we can’t keep them from hitting Israel and ships in the Hormuz. That is where Iran is stronger. Before this war, they may have thought they could keep the strait closed, but now they and everyone else knows they can and that we can’t stop them without absolutely destroying the country or undertaking an uncertain ground war.
