I will state that I’m not a fan of this.
Us violating the sovereignty of multiple countries to enact coups and regime change is something I oppose on multiple grounds. And us doing so, repeatedly, while going ape shite over Russia invading Ukraine because they won’t allow NATO there fully illustrates what total fricking hypocrites and phonies we in fact are.
The reasons being proffered for this action…
- Iran is an imminent threat;
- Iran took hostages in 1979;
- Iran bombed Beirut barracks in 1980s;
- iran is bad to its people;
- iran has wmd;
…sound eerily similar to our bull shite reasons for invading Iraq back in 2003. And I’m not sure that this regime falls and I’m not sure this doesn’t end in a quagmire for us and/or the Iranian people. And if the regime doesn’t fall, it makes us look weak and gives them a W. Moreover, the look of us teaming up with Israel to bomb a Muslim country is a bad optic for the Middle East and fuels terrorist rhetoric and recruitment. So I’m not a fan.
That being said…
This, at least thus far, is not like Iraq in 2003. We are not invading with lots of troops. We are not engaging in nation building. We are not seeking to occupy the country. We are not going to drop trillions of taxpayer dollars into the toilet.
So, while I’m not a fan, I can at least appreciate Trump apparently learning from the worst of our mistakes. He seems to want to be surgical and smart. He wants the people to do the heavy lifting on the ground.
This is a bold, risky move. Trump has made them before. So far, it’s worked for him. We’ll see how this one works out.

There are too many proxies needing to be dealt with.
It gives the Israeli’s carte blanche to finally wipe out hezbollah, the Houthi’s, and every faction bankrolled by Iran. They’ll be doing the Arab world a huge favor, they’ll never admit it, but they won’t stop it.

Not sure of the significance of Bahrain - I think it's a command site for fleet HQ and a logistics hub. Don't know if this was a symbolic attack or if they are really going after something that will affect C2 or the ability to resupply in theater, or what. Someone else may know better.

All the ships were moved out a couple of days ago in anticipation of this. Iran is going to lash out at any US interests in the Middle East if/when they can regardless of importance.
