ANKARA, Turkey — President Trump abruptly announced Wednesday that he would not fly out of Turkey aboard his luxurious new Air Force One — stoking speculation that the Qatar-donated jet may be vulnerable to Iranian fire as the war resumes.
Trump instead departed the annual NATO summit using the older model of Air Force One, which he had stopped using last week in favor of the $400 million “palace on wings” that he has proudly boasted about acquiring.
The president claimed on social media the plane switch was so that US troops in England could “tour” the upgrade — but speculation swirled after he spent the day repeatedly mentioning Iran’s interest in killing him.
“I’m number one on the kill list for Iran. They’re lovely people,” Trump told a Post reporter who asked if security concerns motivated the switch.
Earlier in the day, Trump had said, “They want to take out the US leader, me … And so far, I guess I’ve been a little bit lucky. But that maybe doesn’t last very long.”
When a New York Times reporter pressed Trump over the choice of plane, he said: “It’s flying to Europe, to one of the big bases, two or three of the big bases, where we can show it to the people, and we’ll be going home by normal methods.”

He talked about this for a good 5 minutes today. Can’t believe it’s even a story

I never understood why they would use a plane donated by any country.

I would not trust any plane "donated" by a foreign regime.

Even if this is the case, who cares?

Perhaps intel sources hear something.

All they used was the shell of the plane

I think it pretty much goes like this. He has said all day that he is #1 on Iran’s hit list. Then combat starts back while he is in a country not very far away. The new plane is pretty noticeable and the only 1 of its kind that I’m aware in the AF1 fleet. Probably just decided to come back on an older version so they can use decoys since there are multiple of the old AF1 fleet that looks the same. Just being cautious I would imagine.

This is plausible. But will this go on forever with this new aircraft? For I dunno, 20 years? If this is the case why is/was this allowed?

They found out the jet is compromised..

He stopped and changed planes again in the UK I believe. He will be flying back to the US on the new one. They just rushed over the old AF1 models to be safe after the shooting started again.
The new AF1 will go with Trump into his library after he leaves office I think. New AF1’s are being built by Someone but they are behind schedule and Qatar offered this one until the new planes are completed and in service. I think that is how this new plane came to be and why it’s being used. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

The older AF1s were built from the ground up with the sole intention of becoming A F1, so they have safety, offensive, and defensive features built in down to the very frame that a pre-built plane simply cannot have without a full rebuild.
While I'm sure the new AF1 has the best tech and some top secret abilities added, it's not AS safe as the older planes when under a direct threat like Iran nearby. Trump deciding to begin airstrikes on Iran while out of country (especially one as close as Turkey) necessitated the change. Especially considering our Intel agencies have discovered that Iran has put a direct hit out on the president in the meantime.
Trump couldn't come out and directly say "new AF1 isn't as equipped as the old planes yet and there's direct threats against my life, so I'm taking the older plane home." He can't open up about the new planes' vulnerabilities or let Iran know they're legitimately affecting anything with their threats. So the cover story was made.
This isn't some breaking news, it's common sense. NYP article and another Eurocat thread deemed pointless

Translation: Trump refuses to be an easy target so we'll make up shite just to make him look bad.

I thought we completely obliterated their military?

How is it pointless? This is a legit story, in fact first I head of it was not on some liberal network, it was One America News TV. The security of our CIC is something all should care about. I don't care who it is or what party.

The plane donated from Qatar most likely doesn’t have the defensive suite that a purpose built Air Force One would have. I doubt it has aerial refueling capability either. With the conflict in the region I’m sure the powers that be decided the safest course of action was to use one of the older AF1s.
The donated plane will still likely be used in lower threat environments.

i'd say you are the type of guy that has to worry more about friendly fire than that of the enemy.

None of it makes sense. They’ve always used a decoy 747 when he travels
…now he flies around in a one of a kind tricked out red and black 747?
