His plan will result in more citizens claiming free services but also more citizens who used to provide the tax revenue leaving. Then he will be left trying to tax the people who didn’t pay much in tax revenue and also are claiming the free services.
This is, in a nutshell, why communism doesn’t work. It insists on assuming that everyone is equally willing and able to provide. That is, unfortunately, not the case.

All the while knowing he had zero authority to do so, as a matter of fact the transit authority had an authorized INCREASE in fares already in place to take affect for 2026.
At the end of the day, there is no buyer’s remorse. This falls squarely upon those that pulled the lever for him and the party that fully financially backed him. There was no R nor I at the end of Mamdani, just a big fat D.

The term “work” is relative.
It works, just at the expense of its citizens.
They’re fully aware of the expenses of implementing these ideas. They see it as having to break a couple of eggs to make an omelette. People could be starving and they’ll still go in front of a tv camera with a smile on their face saying everything is going great. It’s sinister to say the least.
