NY Times: Jesus was likely a Palestinian

Oh look guys, guess its time for the US to start supporting Hamas and acknowledging a horrible regime as a legitimate state.
Oh, and we all know Americans are only Christian because they think Jesus was white.
Always going with the race card. Any subject, any time, anywhere, and these shitheads will interject race as the end all be all.

Funny, one of my favorite Christian books called "The Shack" depicts God as a black woman....a very powerful book too. The book was so popular in fact they made it in to a movie.

On Friday, The New York Times published a piece by a writer who has reported for the Times as well as edited at The New York Times Magazine in which he never acknowledged that Jesus was Jewish, said it was unlikely he was white, and said he was likely to have been a “Palestinian.”
quote:
Eric Copage, who is black, wrote, “As I grew older, I learned that the fair-skinned, blue-eyed depiction of Jesus has for centuries adorned stained glass windows and altars in churches throughout the United States and Europe. But Jesus, born in Bethlehem, was most likely a Palestinian man with dark skin.” In the 600-plus words of Copage’s piece, he never acknowledges that Jesus was Jewish, which is obvious from every text of the Bible; instead, neatly aligning his perspective with the New York Times penchant consistently siding with Palestinian Arabs in disputes with Israel, he only resorts to calling Jesus a Palestinian.
quote:
Copage opined, “Now, even though cultures across the world may at times show a Jesus that reflects their own story, a white Jesus is still deeply embedded in the Western story of Christianity. It has become often impossible to separate Jesus and white from the American psyche. … I am also interested in how white Christians feel about images of Christ. How do you feel about the possibility that Christ may not have looked the way he has been portrayed for centuries in the United States and Europe? If you’ve seen Christ depicted as a man of color, what was your reaction?”

As Noah Pollak succinctly noted on Twitter, “The ‘Palestinians are indigenous to Israel’ lie is more commonly believed than I thought. History lesson for NYT editors: Palestinians are Arabs. Arabs didn't conquer the area until 700 years after Jesus was crucified. Jesus was not an Arab.”
quote:
The name Palestine for the area that was home of the Jewish people only came into existence after the Romans exiled the bulk of the Jewish people from Judea in the second century A.D., long after the period in which Jesus lived. Eager to erase the Jewish identity to the land, the Roman emperor Hadrian did something that had heretofore been unheard of for the Romans, who never changed the name of provinces: he named the area “Palestinia” after the Jews’ ancient enemies, the Philistines. The Philistines had been defeated by King David in his memorable defeat of Goliath; they were again defeated by David’s descendant King Hezekiah. They eventually were completely defeated by the Assyrians and had ceased to exist long before the Jews fought with Rome.

I don’t think serious Christians care what he looked like, I’m just excited to see the NYT acknowledge he exists

biblically speaking the old testatment tracing his roots back to Southern Iraq. so he is definitely of middle eastern heritage.

Anyone who has spent serious time around genuine Christians would know that too. The left has to connect everything to the idiotic theory that racism underlies all things though. These are the same people that will bitch and moan and write article after article about implicit bias even though it's bullshite.
They're accusing people of racism they believe is there, not racism that actually exists in reality. It's as if they write from what their stereotypes of Christians are, not what they really are. Ironic because they bitch about stereotyping POC or lbgtq all the time...

I already knew that he was not a white man considering the region he was from

1) Palestinian is not a race.
2) Palestine was hundreds of years from forming when Jesus was supposedly alive.
Theres nothing about "Jesus was a Palestinian" that's correct.
Jesus was a Jew, a Nazarene.

Proving that Palestine should belong to the Jews.

Jesus was a Jew. He regularly worshiped in synagogues (Jewish temples). He preached from Jewish text (the Old Testament of the Bible). He celebrated the Jewish festivals. He went on pilgrimage to the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem where he was under the authority of Jewish priests. He's known as "The King of the Jews". This is obvious to any casual reader of the gospel text so anyone claiming anything contrary is ridiculous.

so what?
I believe this is just a sly trick by the NY Times to drum up support for Palestine even though the regime who holds control there is the type of regime to murder Christians for simply being Christian.

More proof that being published by the “paper of record” doesn’t mean you are right.
Pretty sure most of not all people of sanity can agree that Jesus was a Jewish carpenter. Even if “Palestinian” people existed back then they sure as frick weren’t Palestinian Muslims, who didn’t exist for a minimum of 600 more years.

First thing I thought of. I never gave a rip what he looked like. Hilarious that some try to act like it'd be a sticking point for Christians. Good grief.

I love that the dems are so arrogant that this guy honestly believed that he had thought of a gotcha that would put an end to Christianity. He really believed he had thought of something that no one else in history had ever thought of.

You know how I can tell some people don't understand that white people actually come in different shades? White people aren't all gingers.

I just googled images of Jesus Christ - maybe 1 of every 20 had blue eyes. Almost everyone of them had the complexion I would have expected of someone that was born in the Middle East.

Jesus was 100% a white man
Posted on 4/22/19 at 6:11 pm to tiggerthetooth
That’s so much more likely than him being white
