I'm not attacking your world view, but how do you explain the presence of many of these things prior the spread of Christianity?
God created the world this way and the Bible lets humanity in on it, culminating in the end of the revelation in the New Testament of the Bible.

I'm saying the world has always worked this way and only the Christian worldview (understanding the world through the lens of the Bible) allows us to understand it as such.

What is the threshold for practicing though? Who defines that and what is it defined as?

They may go to church occasionally but apparently they aren't learning anything.

Do you go to church to "learn"? Or do you go to honor and worship God, Jesus Christ and their holiness?

People go to church for different reasons and I say that as someone who's gotten more religious over the years.

They need to look in the bible for answers to questions about morality

I'll politely disagree here and say that there is a lot in the bible that tells us is immoral and yet we do it every day.

But that's ok as we are all sinners and the only thing that counts here is that we believe in the concept of God and Jesus Christ and whether or not we are truly thankful for their forgiveness and we are saved.

quote:

too many preachers today don't preach about sin anymore.

I'll agree with you here.

A lot of churches have become defacto happiness dealers where people just come to get a buzz and then leave.

Biggest example of this is healing place church in Baton Rouge and that place is more like a hollywood production than real sermons about sin, why we need God, and what we should do to live a more holier life.

Lol! There’s plenty of couples/people attending church who have left that lifestyle in their sinful past. When you exhale your last breath you’ll get a chance to hear what the Creator thinks of your lifestyle choices.

Ok, I understand your position now. You are saying that "Christian" values pre-date organized Christianity

Spot friggin’ on!! (And I will be plagiarizing this statement... it’s too good not to use in future conversations.)

Atheism doesn't equal no purpose, meaning, or hope

On the contrary, atheists believe this is all there is, and many put more into life because of that belief

Carpe diem

I'm not atheist, btw

No Christian is surprised by that fact. Unlike how Christianity is "Preached", a Christian life is rewarding and so is after life.

Did you just admit to letting your wife get fricked by another man? That makes you a bitch.

Think back to your own high school. Think of the emo atheists who had their own group, had pale skin, were completely unable to function as socially productive young adults. They devoted their lives to magic the gathering and DD, and had constant Dorito residue on their fingertips.

These were not healthy people.

Those are transgenders nowadays

Emo is the 90s version of transgenders today.

From the devout folks I've known in the Church and my conservative Catholic, Mormon, and even Jewish and Muslim associates and colleagues, I buy it. I don't buy everything they believe in, but it seems to furnish them with a sense of security and a framework for their lives that leaves them content.

The first, SECOND and third laws of thermodynamics say otherwise

The Physics of Life
Regarding creation, the first and second laws of thermodynamics show that energy isn't created or destroyed in a closed system (which the universe without God is supposed to be) and that energy is becoming more and more unusable due to entropy. Since spontaneous generation has been ruled out, the only options are that the universe is eternal, which would mean that all energy should be used up by now, or that it was created (had a beginning). The entropy that exists shows disorder from order, or chaos from order, as usable energy is used up. Even a temporary ordering will eventually result in disorder.

Exactly, because Christian values come from the very character of the eternal God, and therefore those values have always existed. It's only the revelation to mankind within time and space that is "new", not the concepts behind the revelation.
