re: Nuanced take on Massie from KY-04 voter

Massie screwed up with the Epstein stuff. I mean, he leaked pics with dude's names on them that had nothing to do with Epstein and destroyed their lives. He never did shite after being in office since 2012 regarding Epstein until Trump came back in power and then played games about it. The truth is, most R voters aren't 14-year-old girls like most of the posters on this board are. They saw right through Massie. He got everyone's hopes up, and outside of some creepy emails, nothingburger in the files. He embarrassed himself and his state. Nothing wrong with releasing the files, but he promised lots of "goods" and then doinked once it all came out. He promised all kinds of names, then hardly anything. And even the names that came out most had nothing to do with pedo shite. He made himself a part of the Epstein story, it backfired.

I liked Massie too and has no opinion on his reelection. I honestly thought he would be reelected but I have never witnessed a worse case of self inflicted stupidity. Look at the reactions today from several libs in the media

You’re welcome…

To start, I ended up voting for Massie yesterday. I had waffled back and forth, the decision could have been a lot easier if they picked someone that seemed a little less NeoConish than Gallrein, but I probably could have gone either way. I had family and friends that went separated ways as well.
I will say that Massie losing was clearly his own doing. No one worked harder to get him out of office than Thomas Massie. He simply stopped trying to do his job and represent his constituents and work within the framework of our political system to push his ideas and agendas forward. He chose to go on a self-destructive mission, that often times looked to be driven more by personal qualms than any sort of principles.
The optics just simply were not there for him. It appeared he was doing everything in his power to make Trump ineffective, which was not going to fly in a district that overwhelmingly voted for Trump to get his agenda pushed.
This goes back to the classic problem with libertarianism. It’s great at offering critiques of existing policies. But absolutely terrible at coming up with concrete action plans “that will actually work in reality” on how to get their agenda passed.
Though this thread has derailed, just want to say I appreciate your attempt to add perspective.
If I lived in KY, I would've voted for Gallrein, but I don't dislike Massie. I used to like him quite a bit, but agree generally with your observation that he went on an almost inexplicable self-destructive mission.
I can't help but wonder if his previous wife might've had a better grounding effect on him, or if he sort of went off the rails when she died, or the new girlfriend/wife was a bad influence (relative to how he comported himself). Not trying to make excuses for him... just curious. Little things like not shaving after his wife passed are little things in and of themselves, but do point to some level of change.
Regardless, when he decided to take Trump's barbs personally (speculating) and attempted to play a PR game against Trump by grandstanding on some issues and trying to get in the spotlight more, he massively (Massievely? lol) screwed up. That's Trump's game, and if the Dems and the MSM haven't been able to unseat Trump with their relentless insults and attacks, I don't know what Massie thought he was going to accomplish. Maybe he started to like the attention / camera too much. Maybe he thought he could gain something more out of it. Whatever the case, he Icarus'd himself.

Nailed it.

Nah you got it all wrong.
The enormous orthodox Jewish population in his Kentucky district and their AIPAC money did Massie in.
They couldn’t stand true MAGA being in control anymore.
Of course... dem evil JOOs got him!

You don't need creativity to enact legislation to reduce the size of government and spending. You only need the other members of the GOP to have the same will.
The failure of the majority who only speaks in terms of these policies but can never enact them, speaks only to them.

Oh no! An enemy of an anonymous message board where no one has the balls to run for office themselves! People take this place too seriously.
You realize there are elected officials who frequent this board, right?

Trump has had the leadership he's wanted in the house going back to Kevin McCarthy.
Yeah. There's this other chamber called... the Senate. Policy has to pass that chamber too.

Yeah the person with the gifted IQ calling dumb people dumb is quite common. What's your point?

You likely weren’t alive when I was last a Registered Dem.
Maybe I do have you read wrong; I’m seeing you as argumentative the last few weeks/months
I’ve always liked you and if you check back, I’ve not been one that has attacked you; but I have seen you catch a rash of shite from many on here
So if I read you wrong on trying to be difficult; then I’m sorry about that
ETA- one reason I’ve always kind of liked you was that comment way back when because you had been a registered dem and switched / that made me respect you… glad I was not mistaken in remembering that

Thanks for the comments, whether I agree with your stance or not.

All good, man.
I was wrong about your age though. Way wrong.
That explains you not frothing at the mouth and actually engaging in a discussion and asking legitimate questions and not stupid questions like why doesn’t that person do x.
My dem life was short lived and simply a folly of youth and due to my coal mining family upbringing.
I couldn’t vote for today’s version of Dems with a gun to my head. They are nothing like Billy Jeff. Even he changed to be more radical.
What you see from me that may cause some consternation is likely my sense of humor. I love to watch a few posters flail and make false accusations because they struggle with policy and make it personal. I love the melt accusations. Makes me laugh.
One should be here in a second.
Frick the Dem party. There’s no path I see where they could grab my vote ever again. Too damn radical. Pregnant men should be enough for all actual men to abandon them, but alas.

So until we go back to an electorate that resembles early America, we have to work within the confines of massive debt.
But we should be working to change that. Some people are, most people aren't.
If the alternative is "frick it, the Federal Government is Santa Claus and we'll never run out of money" then it really doesn't matter who you vote for from a fiscal perspective.

Naw dude the alternative is using another "f-word" in fraud.
Trump can just declare the debt fraudulent and it goes away with no impact on anything.
