Plus if you have design and development work to do, you know most of that is done alone. It's impossible to concentrate in a noisy office to the level that you need to.

This is what a lot of the jealous WFH-haters don't understand. It's clear many of them don't require intensive thought for their jobs.

Why would anyone defend 9-5 5 days in the office?

There is not better proof that too many people frick around than when everyone is in the office.

Wouldn’t some of y’all want WFH/Hybrid while cutting the useless idiots?

I don’t understand this “get back in the office you pussy” mentality.

ETA: Is this thread concerning gov employees? Yeah they can get their asses back in the office

Idk why people on here celebrate wasting X amount of your life commuting. Having options is good. Corprate boot licking is a weird look.

You are a contractor. Why would you feel entitled to severancem

Also, if you 'force' a company to fire you, good luck claiming unemployment.

I'm an employee for a contractor. Full benefits, all that. Better pay and benefits than a true government employee.

If you are set to work remotely in your initial agreement and live/work in state of Colorado and they fire you for no cause (having to come back in the office would not be cause), you will get 100% unemployment everytime.

If the owner of my company and my direct report to above read this, they would 100% agree with you.

Then Elon isn’t talking about you. He’s talking about government employees.

Sounds like you are about to be permanently at home. Without the work part

Expect your notice right before the New Year. Something to do with starting off the new year on a stronger financial footing. I'm sure your next employer will want to see you in the office daily, tho

Nah

It wouldn’t be that soon anyways. I’m not worried in the least about it.

There are no modern developers today doing their work in an office unless they just want to. All of our government customers work 100% At home.

It’s the same as working from home but only in an office I have to waste time getting there in a 45 minute daily commute.

But it makes Joe Blow from Louisiana who works offshore feel better, so there.

It’s pretty simple if you are a gov employee you come in or you’re fired.

The point isn’t to keep people it’s to make them self remove which is cheaper. We want less gov employees and this is how you do it. Then you start to hand out severances to the rest we need to cut.

I understand the concept. But in reality, if this does induce self removal of, let's say 15% of federal workers, it will be the top 15% most productive of them who are highly skilled and have actual private sector appeal. So now you have cut federal spending by less than half of 1% and in return have far more inefficiency and incompetency for the services you do rely on government for. The one's who have nowhere else to go will show up to the office to keep their paycheck but they will be even more unproductive than before. This won't work out as planned.

If your a private company then that a decision your company alone has to make. For state and federal government it is a different story. There is good and bad with remote working from home. Unfortunately bad employees really take advantage of this !
If federal then you will be coming back to the office at some point.how many days a week will see. There is good and bad with remote working.
