New York Times complains about Amazon's fast/free shipping.

NYT's article
Basically complaining that Amazon is pushing their contracted drivers into accidents with their expectations of delivering packages on time.
"An investigation by ProPublica identified more than 60 accidents since June 2015 involving Amazon delivery contractors that resulted in serious injuries, including 10 deaths."
How many deaths are attributed to illegal aliens since June 2015, and when are we going to see articles about that?

They should be more concerned that none of those shipments are originating in New York.

That doesn't seem like that much considering how much driving and how many deliveries are done, and the high traffic/big city areas these deliveries are in.
In typical journalism fashion, they dont provide any context (i.e. how many wrecks/deaths from USPS, FedEx, USPS in this time frame? if any of those delivery drivers wreck and kill someone, how are they set up insurance wise? etc.)
yawn

When I saw an Amazon delivery van that had crashed into the brick wall of a luxury apartment complex in Memphis, I knew those guys are serious about getting stuff delivered.

Here is a CSB! I saw one of those Amazon delivery vans in a wreck on Monday. The van wasn't in bad shape but the other vehicle had flipped and ended up on it's side. Was curious how big the payout is going to be.
Funny what they decide it worth reporting and what isn't???

Drivers have had electronic logs for a few years now. There literally is no way to push a driver harder than the law allows.

1) This doesn't even make sense, because an Amazon delivery is not the same as, say, a pizza delivery. While a customer might like getting his pizza in 30 minutes or so, a "quick" Amazon shipment is judged by the DAY it arrives. Not by how many minutes it takes.
2) "IF" there is a problem with Amazon drivers getting into a higher-than-average number of accidents, that tells me that these drivers are either 1) getting paid per delivery, or 2) simply want to get their deliveries over as quickly as possible so they can go home.
3) Here's hoping that this negative article by the NYT means that there is in-fighting between them an Jeff Bezos's Washington Post.

I don't do Amazon but my wife is addicted to it. She got me some shoes that didn't fit. She told me to take it to UPS and they'll take care it.
I walked into the UPS store and said "I want to return these shoes."
Them: 'OK...done. Have a nice day.'
Me: 'That's it?'
Them: 'Yes sir, your confirmation is in your email right now.'
The entire transaction took 20 seconds. I was impressed.

However they won't refund your Amazon card, they'll give you an electronic gift card to use instead.

We don't have an Amazon card. They just took the charge off my Visa card.

As a matter of principle I shouldn't either, but I make an exception because it's just so damn convenient. I mainly just get supplements, though, and a couple other things.
PS - Which reminds me. I forgot to order my "I stand with Hong Kong" t-shirt.
