Don't know anything about Leo The XIV and I'm not a Catholic, but I will be praying for this Pope, praying he embraces the scriptures as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ intended when He instructed His Disciples to preach the Gospel throughout the world.

I have a feeling the first US Pope was chosen to combat Trump and try to turn US public opinion against OMB.

Geography probably played a big role. Pope Leo can be claimed as the pope of the Americas.
South and Central America have 6.3 times more Catholics than North America. There are like 700 million Catholics in the Americas.

I hope you're right. Can't understate the power of a Pope that can speak directly to the American people without an interpreter.
